The Daily Grind
Perhaps you've heard about it already elsewhere, but there is a daily comics challenge that has just gotten underway, and I'm in it! The Daiily Grind features a whole bunch of folks from the Bentcomics realm, and beyond. And an unexpected famous person. If nothing else it gives readers a whole lot o...

It's funny what the critic wrote about the Pod sounding like it is on the wrong speed, as when I was first listening to it, my friend had it on vinyl and since it was four sides with no names, and no indication of speed, we were extremely confused and thought possibly different sides had different s...

I would have to go with Pure Guava. It is all over the place and wonderful. Chocolate and Cheese is also great. A little more slick. Probably I am attached to Pure Guava as it was my first Ween. Sniff. We had some good times together. [checks his take-to-work cd purse] Wahoo I brought Pure Guava wit...

I've ofen thought that it would be good to have paid ads/endorsements for products that I like on my site... I've just never tried to pursue it. Often this idea returns to me when I'm posting my drunk comics, when I specifically refer to brands that I was drinking at the time: http://www.strongmanpr...

Re: Whose mind is it anyway?
BTW, who the hell is Billy Bragg? Okay here is the problem with a message board, it is hard to tell when someone's being serious, or when they're joking. Do you really not know who Billy Bragg is? British folky communist singer (right up your alley, I'm sure!) who recently did a couple of albums of...

the big smooch
Finally got around to seeing RotK yesterday, and well sure there were a couple of points where it looked like Sam and Frodo were going to kiss! Particularly the last shot of them together... the framing, the vibe, if it was your regular hollywood flick, (and if they were of opposite sexes), that wou...

I agree in that I don't think he'll be noticed. I expect he'll just go home at the end of the day. He doesn't get noticed because he's just that sort of fellow and much too polite for his own good. I don't think he'll be noticed either. He's so polite he must be canadian! I've actually been quite e...

On the subject of guitar solos... well I'm not sure if they are exactly solos, but in just about every Ween song there is a Big Guitar Section. I have seen them live a few times and in every song there is a point where... Gene? The guitarist just goes off on a big guitar rampage. And so when I'm lis...

sort of a one hour work
Well I was feeling bad about the lack of updates on my site the past week or two, so I thought I would try a one hour thing. The problem was that I was out enjoying the sunny afternoon and did the comic in a park, and I had no watch with me. I think it probably took no longer than an hour to draw, a...

APE was good. It was nice to meet a bunch of the people whose comics I've been enjoying online (including Scott - his kids were incredibly cute). And it is always nice to be in a place where almost EVERYONE does comics! I went to a party at this gallery where comic art was on display and you just fe...

Of the ones that you mention not recognizing, I will say that Hey Wait was definitely one of the better comics I read in the past year. Just amazing. Very simple but potent approach. Unfortunately I read a friend's copy and then gave the copy I bought to another friend as a birthday present, so I ca...

It's entirely possible that I immediately dislike a DRAWING style when I just look at a comic. But, it is in the READING of a comic that we decide if we like it as a comic. The strength of the story, writing style, characterizations in the text combined with the mood and action shown by the art mus...

That is an interesting and throrough form, but I wonder if it is necessarily appropriate. I used to run into this problem with zines, when someone would send me something in trade and... it just wasn't my cup of tea. So what am I to say in reply? Usually I would try to focus on what I liked about it...

I am with Jack Masters. Theory is all nice and good, but wouldn't we all be better off drawing a comic than debating whether or not Far Side is a 'comic'? Whenever I 'come out' to people at work and tell them I do comics, they are at a loss as to how to talk about it. The non-comic reader will say s...

Greg, you mentioned watching Ed Wood and that it made you question why you are doing this. Is that because you looked at Ed Wood determinedly making his hopeless movies and wondered if you are just as deluded? I have had this type of thing happen to me on a number of occasions, where I see somehow w...

Well the original project concept would have had me adding a day of the comic each day, but I didn't have available time until Tuesday. And working quite steadily for ten hours or so, I only managed to get 'Saturday' and 'Sunday' done. Hopefully I will be able to add the rest without too much...
