Hope some people write in with advice. If I get a new table when I move, it will be my first time with one, so I'd also like to know what other people are setting theirs at.
I lowered my chair and that helped the back thing out a lot, though.

i have none!
I wish I had a table at an angle! Mine is flat. 100% flat. I am thinking about getting a new table at an angle when I move into a new apartment next month... my back is really starting to hurt with all the hunching over I do. Yeah, I went to art school. What good did it do me? Well, I do have a degr...

hey, here's my opinion... whoopie!
To me the computer still just doesn't outdo the book / magazine as a reading tool. I still love print more than pixels... not that I don't like pixels. They can be a lot of fun. But if I had to give up one of the two, it would definitely be pixels. But that's how I feel as a reader. As far as creati...

hmmm..... some interesting responses. The only thing that I could think to add is that I think it is ok to play with different techniques in the same work. I used to feel differently. If I picked one drawing style or writing style or whatever, I used to want to stay with it through the whole work. A...

Here's a thought- Since I have the resolution on my monitor turned up as far as it can go- 1600x1200- It's possible that I'm viewing your art smaller again than the size you drew it. hmmm... that could be possible. Not only possible, but absolutely ZANY! Seriously, though, I drew it pretty small an...

working smaller and enlarging...
Recently I tried working smaller than the finished size and enlarging the artwork instead of the classic method of shrinking artwork. It gives an AWESOME effect, but can be irritating to draw with a brush (which is all I use, generally), especially the faces and stuff. Too small of a work space. One...

redesign and guestbook at vince-coleman.com
Hey, I redesigned my site and put up a guestbook. Come by and leave a message. No new online comics, but I've got free previews of the mini comics and some illustrations down at the bottom of the top page.

Interesting. I understand your line of thought. I was thinking of understanding in terms of someone who studies something and understands it, but may or may not be able to actually do it. But, if you are talking about a step up from simply doing to understanding what you are doing, then that is a di...

My personal opinion is that "Reinvents Comics" is the highest compliment you could ever pay a cartoonist. I noticed that some of the more famous members of the board had their own personal rankings, like cat and Mr. McCloud. That is fun too. But as far as "the masses" go, I would place "Reinvents Co...

I love this forum. I'm still unsure how the status naming is done. I went from "crazy idiot" to "king of the supermarket sausage" and then back to "forgoten dog" all in one day! Now I noticed I have moved from "Reinvents Comics" to "Understands Reinventing", which seems like a step down to me. Did I...

Since I have to consider how I want the page to look for both web and print, I have had to take special care to its presentation. I have had this problem as well. I decided to go with the vertical scrolling thing. I just slap each page below the next, so you can scroll down and read it similarly to...

hmmm... the question seems to be about ease of access. How many people are going to look up that old Spiderman right away? Also, what if you don't have the comic good old Stan is refering to? Or even if you have it, you might be reading the comic somewhere else, away from your collection. This inter...

vertical panel count
How many people out there stick to a certain vertical panel count, with some minor exceptions, througout any given story? Like 3 rows per page, or 4 rows per page or whatever. I used to just go by feeling on vertical panel count (I have no idea what to call this). Then, the other day, I was sitting ...

I'm also thinking about showing my mini comics and stuff to publishers at APE. Anyone have any suggestions for showing art / trying to find work at a convention? I saw that this year they have a panel called "What Publisher's Want" all about how to get a job in comics. But once you show up there and...

Hey, who's going to APE next year? Is it too soon to start talking about this? I just found out that I can go. Which is a big deal since I live in Japan and the only time I go to the states is to visit my family, who live in Texas. I never thought that I would be able to take a trip to the states ju...

David, Interesting comments, as usual. Ok, after thinking for a while, reading David's comments, and discussing the issue with a friend (who hopefully will be making an appearance in this forum soon), I have refined my original ideas. First of all, I was basing my original 25 cents on my perspective...

a rough model... very rough...
Giving it some more thought, I came up with this: Ok, let's say that the average cartoonist with a family wants to make $2,000 a month. I have no idea if in reality this is a good figure considering taxes, insurance, advertising for the site, supporting a family, etc. But I imagine that it is pretty...
