I just hope he's not hauled into a court somewhere in the deep south, especially since Clarence Darrow is dead. 'Tain't gonna happen, Rip. He's livin in Southern California, the wackiness capital of the world. I once read a statistic that said that a new monkey god was invented every twelve hours i...

You know, it strikes me as a little unfair to criticize it for being a slow download. Alien, I think you're right in that a work of art should fit the medium it is created for, but I think you're wrong in saying that this doesn't. Merely because it is big is no reason to driticize it. you can do as ...

Hey!
No crossing threads! Otherwise we'll get a whole bunch of people misquoting the line near the end of Ghostbusters about crossed streams, remember it now? And besides, the REAL point behind the cult gag was that if anyone deserves veneration like that, it's Scott. But, hey, has anyone else noticed th...

voltron indeed!
I feel so much cleaner now that the McCloudites have been dissolved. Plus, now I'm allowed to post on other subjects again. Now, onto the meat of the post... Voltron? seems less Voltron than Ultraman (though I did like voltron). remember, in voltron, the enemies usually came pre-packaged supersized,...

here's what happened at the end of this fiasco. Rip went to his baseball game, then went home and organized an angry mob, wandered over to North Dakota (leaving a path of pillaging and destruction in his wake, you should see how Ohio ended up) and kicked the crap out of my cronies. Naturally, in goo...

Who's banding together? You've started a cult of your own, havn't you, Rip. You're several years behind me, and whether you have more advanced technology or not, I've still got more manpower. You don't stand a chance. And enough with the "prince albert in a can"; you're worse than AT&T. And, as for ...

This was the scene earlier today.
Fortunato: Mr. Patmos, What is the next order of business? Patmos: Ummm... The elimination of "Judas" Tanion. Fortunato: Status? Patmos: Ummmm... Fortunato: Well? Patmos: Incomplete. Fortunato: WHAT?! How could it be incomplete? I sent the crack assault team in almost three days ago!? There's no way...

McCloud is displeased. An angry storm moves over New York, and my plan for your elimintation is only half complete. Given my postition of power in my home state, you should be very afraid, as I recently took control of the military here in North Dakota. Did you know that the theory was once advanced...

Of course he has a nemesis! didn't you read the informational pamphlet? His nemesis is the evil Gbltidtz! Sadly, the only thing I know about him is that he lives in the places that are above the other places. Why he's going to remove artistic integrity from the rest of us, or why his name has so few...

well, the anit-poligamy laws never stopped the mormons. Once this here cult is big enough we might be able to compete with them, but right now they'd stomp us, and I fear a theocracy with them in charge. The real tragedy is that my overthrow of the government has already progressed into its final st...

WOW. boy, that was taking it a little to far even for me. I'll apologize later, right now we're only halfway through the joke.
I wish had a gift for writing happy, pleasant things. sadly, it was not to be. rip, keep asking questions. We'll see how creepy I can get.

well, I already donated my entire life savings to me so I guess you should be required to as well. as for the wives part, despite the countless female recruiting drives I have funded out of my own pocket (they were dates, really. they tend to get a little creeped out when I show up in a kahftan) our...

getting in on the ground floor
well, rip, the only thing required is the will to convert or create more of the gullible.... I mean faithful. I think we should allow the men to have multiple wives, don't you? especially highranking officials, that way we can produce more faithful faster. just your luck mr. bishop of the bronx. We ...

Added note
I forgot to mention: the McCloudites are not to be confused with the McLuddites. The McLuddites believe that all technology should be destroyed except for that which is responsible for the production of McDonald's fries. Mmmmm, fries. My brother founded that cult; I think he's on an island in the pa...

Converting to McCloudism is remarkably simple and convenient for those who wish to worship our patron (may his name be forever blessed). The doctrine of McCloudism is flexible enough to even allow the most rigourously affermative fanatic to adapt McCloud into their pantheons. For example, many of th...

McCloudites!
It occured to me (or at least the name occured to me) a few days after I first visited the site of McCloud, Modern Deity of Comics and Artistic Endevors (may his name be forever blessed), that if anyone deserves deification, it's our dear freind Scott. So, without furter ado, I give you the <b>First...

for a quick example
for a good, quick example of the outer limits of closure simply hop on over to "one-armed carl" at scott's site. It can be found with the other carls. Given the dramatic variance in the panels for the carl comics, it produces many jarring and funny combinations.

temporalectopia?
you got some interesting results with that comic, mister masters. the lines along the top connecting the frames to another as yet un drawn frame create an interesting effect. Now, I agree with you. closure CAN'T be gotten rid of. we perform it on a regular basis. you're performing closure while you ...

Lines
Yingo my freind, I live in a medium sized town, and we have a bookstore that carries UC for the cover price. Ah, the perks of living in a college town :D <--- (note: first time I've ever used an emoticon) but as for the lines, it wasn't just that the emotional appeal can change according to the way ...

Comic theory
I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but since more people seem to read the morning improv forum than anywhere else I'll post it here. Recently, it occured to me that the idea of linking lines (the things scott uses to connect his drawings for online comics, so that they can go in (the...

good call buzzard. I remember the section about panel transitions well (I still don't have my copy back, I've loaned it to a philosophy professor and I want him to use it as a textbook in an aesthetics class). after he introduces the six types of panel transitions, he proceeds with a sequence of pan...

here's to a great debate!
thank you everyone for making my first post such a success! but seriously, after losttoy's post, I got to thinkin about answers to his questions, and the answers are, in order, no, yes, no. the first two are subjective, I suppose, but the third is an unfair comparison. the third Is my vegetarian len...
