Possibly because the creator can read it. Of course, the creator already knows what it says so it's a lot easier for him/her. It's like reading your own handwriting. Oh, wait. It is reading your own handwriting. Well, you know what I mean. Actually, I could read it but it is borderline. It's very cr...

Re: Let's talk money. Topic: hiring an artist
Not much to say as this really isn't my field but I do have a couple of thoughts. Firstly, if you post on the webcomics forums, mention the money in the subject line. Everyone's asking for artists and nobody's paying so it's an important thing to advertise. Secondly, if the comic is going to be nude...

Re: Rephrasing
Well, don't say that, either, for all the same reasons. Scripts are just not much fun to read, I'm afraid.ThisBloke wrote:Sorry, that should be "I've accepted that the script can't be good enough".

Re: Many truths... but...
I've accepted now that the script can't be any good Nah. Don't think that. Reading is quite a large investment of effort and time. It's not like looking at a picture and saying "Hey, cool". You have to sit down and plough through something which is done by an amature and is therefore assumed to be ...

Re: Is there a market?
Do regular people, non artists, want to read comics online? Are we all just fooling ourselves? Of course! Non-writers read books, non-directors watch movies and, heck, non horse racers watch horse races. It is, if you'll forgive me, a really silly question. I find the problem with webcomics is that...

Re: Page advance by browser "<" and ">&
On the plus side, the mouse can be used in your right hand for scrolling and the keyboard operated by the left for navigation. It's almost as good as a mouse/keyboard combination for a first person shooter. I think mine is less complicated of a system. I thought I was describing your system, actual...

Re: Page advance by browser "<" and ">&
Keyboard navigation is a really great idea. I've never heard of something similar being done on a webpage so I don't know how or if you could do it. However... You really do need the navigation buttons as well. Sorry. It's the established interface for webcomics which everyone is familiar with. More...

Can it give me the ability (hardware-wise) to do the top illustration at this link: http://www.dominic-deegan.com/fanart.html The one that has the Seer looking into the crystal ball. I have no idea. I've used WACOMs but I haven't tried to emulate penciling on one. Most people use a WACOM as a short...

Re: How do you find and select a good artist to collaborate
As for participating in another forum, I'd rather just do one for a subject matter. I hope those that participate over at Keenspace also do so here. Do they? I haven't been here long but I haven't seen anyone I know. Buzzcomix has a little bit of overlap with Keenspace but is more-or-less a seperat...

Re: How do you find and select a good artist to collaborate
Art is harder and longer hands-on work... I must not be that gifted in writing since I've always found it hard to come up with a really good storyline. Well, I did say "hands on". Thinking up story ideas, plotting and so forth can be done on the bus on the way to work. The actual doing , the writin...

Re: How do you find and select a good artist to collaborate
Is it really crucial that the artist and I live in the same location? No. I've done writing collaborations with writers in America over the internet. Although I usually work via email, an instant messenger and a chat program both help. Then there's how to select an artist. Uh... Select? In all hone...

WACOM tablets . There are probably others but WACOM are the best. They vary from cheap simple small ones where you draw on a surface and it appears on your monitor, to a flat LCD screen you can draw directly on to. Kinda like a laptop without a keyboard. They take quite a bit of getting use to, min...

I've had one artist ask me to write him a comic and I sketched out an urban fantasy for him, he drew two test pages and then real life got in his way. I'm easy. I can turn it into a story or something. The probem with writers is that it's hard to tell when they're good. You get a lot within a fracti...

Re: Webcomic
- The comic will be set in one of my own worlds, which is quite complex. Would you have any suggestions for how to introduce it to the readers without forcing them to read all the info on the world. Throw them in and let them pick it up through context, Pern style. In the Dragons of Pern books, it ...

That's a good set of tutorials you've got there. I like that they highlight the web-design part of the webcomicking, which is often left out. Middle ground
Something that recently occurred to me... The main type of comic on the web - as far as I can tell at least - is the gag-a-day (whether or not there is also a story in there somewhere). The infinite canvas seems to be an annoyance for those comics and it makes sense to me. Gag-a-days are jokes, shor...
