No promises - but I may just start posting panels the moment I finish 'em rather than wait to complete an episode. I'm still undecided on that.

My BitPass experience to date

As one of the folks who's a BitPass earner, I just thought I'd share my own experience to date. I'm a virtually unknown comic artist with about a small, not widely promoted site. Traffic-wise, I'm lucky to see a couple dozen people through my site each day. Setting it up - The BitPass system is fair...

From the way I understand the point system - an arbitrary amount is awarded to begin with that is based upon the quality/quantity of the work submitted. This helps balance out the difference between a quickly spat out sketchy strip and a time consumingly gorgeous illustrated work. for example: Arthu...

So the problem with a scheme like this (well, not that MM is a funny) is if there's only one author you're interested in, it kinda feels like a rip-off. The nature of an anthology work is that you'll run into one work that's really really good - one work that absolutely stinks - and a lot of things...

If your dad likes true crime tales, or is a fan of Tarentino films then I heartily recommend 'Stray Bullets' by David Laphum. Each issue was a self contained story, but all the stories weaved together to form one giant tale. Sadly, I don't think David's publishing anymore... someone please tell me I...

There's a bar in Toronto where a whole mess o' cartoonists gather once a month to do a jam like this.<br> <br> I've always known these jams to be <a href="http://www.finearts.yorku.ca/7stories/jams.htm">'dinner comics'</a> as it would invariably be at a restraunt after/during a comics con that this ...

I would be in favour of a seperate folder to just discuss the business end of things - be it micropayments or any other aspect of making a successful go of things (marketing, accounting, legal issues). Sub-dividing the business from the art will keep the important topics on both sides of the coin at...

Aside from the technical aspects, most of the arguments raised against micropayments seem solvable with just a bit of marketing. Listen, people shelled out over three million dollars this weekend to see The Animal. If there are people willing to dish out five, ten bucks to see dreck like that, then ...

Most likely, I would have.
I'd been reading PVP daily for about a week or two before I finally took the time to dig through the archives.

Would I have shelled out to look at it completely sight unseen? Never.

Forgive me if someone's already brought this idea up, but another option for those who are doing comic strips online, is to offer today's and the last week or two's worth of comics for free - but to charge for access to the archives. I sat down one weekend and read the entirety of PVP. Over a couple...
