It'd be kind of cool if you put up a brief summary of what's happened so far and who the characters are, and that might get you thinking about them in slightly different ways. ...

Chris Baldwin, who does Bruno (brunostrip.com) does maps and blue prints and such, which makes for nice consistancy.

He also uses photo references, and sometimes he shows the original photos next to the drawing, which is very awesome.

i have a scanport 3000 scanner. this is one of the worst scanners in existance... or maybe it's just the software. i don't know. in addition to constantly freezing up first the program and then my entire computer, i'm unable to "preview" before scanning (that freezes everything up, as does clicking ...

seems like a lot of online cartoonists have been really burnt out and "hopeless" recently.

i hope you pull through it, as i really enjoy your comic.

greg: i have 2 questions for you.

1) i sent you some fan art a few days ago. did you get it? if so, what will you do with it? 2) if i drew a couple strips of kate and the comic book store, would you publish them here? you have SUCH great characters, and your art and stories are so good. i'm vibrating with angst that you're not updat...

i either create for other people, on commission, which ultimatly is for myself and the money i make, or else i create entirely for myself. i draw. i draw constantly. when i have no other paper, i paint in ink and ink wash on newspaper. if i don't have that outlet, i go stircrazy. i don't really care...

Good points, all! However, there is one key difference between pauses in real life, music and drama, and pauses in a comic-- Real life, music and drama all unfold in real time and pauses are essential; Comics don't work this way at all-- Real time is no object to understanding and real time can't h...

Another possibility is Eric Shanower's Age of Bronze: A Thousand Ships. I ordered a copy of it recently after seeing it heavily recommended at Sequential Tart. It's a comic version of the Illiad. Very human, no superheros and somewhat operatic in scope. how much does that cost? who publishes it? so...

maus and "cancer year" are both EXCELLENT. incredibly superb.

he might also like "signal to noise" by neil gaiman. it's one of his better comic works, in my opinion, and has no super heros or magical creatures, unlike "sandman," "black orchid," etc.

if you want character driven comic books, try "strangers in paradise" by terry moore (this features lesbians, so some people might not approve), "hitman" and "preacher" by garth ennis (both extremely violent, but funny...and if you consider sin city, you might consider them) perhaps "bone" or "cereb...

in "reinventing comics," one of the subjects of discussion is the limitations of panels, and how to play with them. has anybody read "9 chickweed lane"? it's a syndicated comic strip which appears in print, and plays beautifuly within its limitations. apologies if this has been mentioned before. htt...
