that's interesting.... maybe my tablet is just not a good tablet.... on the moho front, here is what they said about changing line width: "Basically, each point along a curve can define the width of the curve at that point. Try this simple example: draw an oval in Moho. Then, activate the Outline to...

I know... it seems like there SHOULD be something out there by now.... Greg, how does it work with Corel? Jason - my tablet is a 10,000 yen (about US$ 100) small wacom tablet. I think it is the cheapest one. Is THAT why it is difficult for me? I hope this doesn't sound like boasting or whatever, but...

If I'm reading a story for enjoyment I don't want to be distracted by the mechanics. Me too. Like, confusing panel layout really kills the buzz. "Buzz" was my highschool nickname!! What a shock it was to read your comment!! The whole asterix, look for the note at the bottom of the facing page yada ...

moho: http://www.lostmarble.com/moho/features/variable_lines.jpg Now I just have to find out if they did that through skillful use of a pressure sensitive tablet (which I have, but can't seem to get the hang of) or through some sort of ... computer aided process.... In the meantime, since I can't af...

how are the Power Puff Girls drawn???
How the HECK are the Power Puff Girls drawn? The lines are too perfect to be hand inked, and the line width varies too much to be done with any software I'VE seen. So, what I'm wondering is, is there a software they use to get that effect? You know, like, draw a line and then tell the computer to "s...

page rates...?
back to the original question: what DOES an artist (or a writer, for that matter, or an inker, or the drummer, or whatever) get paid for print work? I just got a work approved to be published in a print comic. I don't want to give out the details until I've signed a contract, and the deal is set, bu...

anyone remember "Hero" or "Heroes"? It came out back in the 80's, I think. 100% Pencils, as I remember. Boy, I wish I had bought all the issues... only had one issue... Also, I think Warlock 5 was either penciled or done in ink washes... I'll have to check out those examples of penciled stuff online...

When it gets to the point it is in Japan, where comics are these massivly selling pieces of disposable entertainment, then I can see it being accepted by the public. As much as I love comics here in Japan, and the comic system in general, we in America have something they don't have here (I say "he...

ok, I agree with pretty much everything Greg said, except the thing about Marvel & DC going out of business. I think they should both branch out into new areas while still keeping the comic stores alive with their superhero fare. Yeah, they come up with stuff like Vertigo, Max, etc... but they never...

Well, I suppose the real question is: Why would you want to go through the effort and cost of creating something that, because you don't draw big spandex covered boobs, will be pretty much ignored and unappreciated by the small, small, small, small, small, smallsmallsmallsmall.... group of people w...

ok, I thought it was pretty cool. I would like to address the sloppiness issue, though. I don't mind sloppy drawings, but sloppy lettering is a pet peeve of mine. I just got back from APE with a ton of mini comics, and upon surveying the lot I found a lot of sloppy lettering. Yeah, I'd have to say a...

Tim, can you live with an unmovable drawing surface?
Gazo is right-on with the drafting tape. Hey! I'm "right on" about something! Whaddayaknow? --- Ok, Tim, I have given the matter a lot of thought the past few days, and here is the conclusion I arrived at: A slim tilt is the best (for me). Why? The main reason is that I love to move my paper around...

Wow. That's great. Wish I could be a part of that. But hey, what about APE (Alternative Press Expo)? Anyone from the group going this year? Or anyone from the ZWOL forum in general? I'll be there! I can't believe I'm going... all the way from Japan. It's like some strange dream. Yeah, so I heard tha...

Re: 45? - 0?
The advantage is that I don't need a third hand to hold the T-square, triangle and pencil all at one time. I also have a convenient spot to put the ink bottle (right on the table where I'm working at) and not on a table next to me or in my lap I have been taking that for granted. Having everything ...

drafting tape
Hey, I don't know if this is the best / correct way or not, but since I am online I'll just shoot my mouth off anyhow. There is drafting tape that you can buy to adhere paper onto surfaces. It is a relatively weak tape, so when you peel it off, it doesn't tear the paper. Theoretically, at least. Som...

The last time someone patronized me, I punched him in the face. We are talking about the same thing, aren't we? Ok, well, the truth is I didn't punch him, I just went home and cried. Is it bad to admit that? I'm giving myself up until March of this year to see if I have what it takes to survive in t...
