Interesting guess, Kaos, but incorrect. The "evil Rorschach comic" guess is also incorrect (though I guess in return that Guest is a not-yet-logged-in ShadowCaster ). By the way, there is an answer, a simple, logical, discoverable answer as to what that comic-like thing is. No mind-reading is requi...

The grey checkboard is effectively the classic backgroud to "highlight" transparency, but since most of the examples do not use transparency, I added a drop down list to choose the background.
Did anyone try to generate new images with the script ?

Thanks ! I especially like the upper left corner where the void lets you fear of the nothingness that may come, but in fact doesn't, and lets you wonder how even nothing can not be there. This is my best piece of VaporArt so far. I'll tresure it with as much care as the others. May I send it to Merl...

3D webcomic

Just a thought : 8) are red/green or red/blue couloured so called 3D glasses common in the US ? (Frensh magasines including a pair from time to time are not uncommon) If so, it might be interesting to try 3D webcomic drawing, there are already softwares to help build images for those. And in other c...

I know it's a bad habbit to revive old threads (especially since it's not the Hype thread), but I updated the page (75 KB) and still hope it might be of interest to some artist.
You think it's ugly?, useless?, incomprehensible?... Just tell me please.

I agree with the problem you point out that the images manipulated by the engine should be 100% raster for speed performance. This is why some precomputing to build raster images from Vectorial + Raster is needed. I haven't got a working version of this yet but it should be doable. If not, keeping t...

And may I get special "Bragging rights" for not knowing any of the songs ?
Does it mean I'm forever young ?

A new way to store raster images in flash

I know I have way too much projects at the same time (fractal spiral on hold until someone finds me a circular story BTW) but I think I'm on something original and potentially very usefull in conjunction with the tarquin engine : The tarquin engine works with embedded raster images. These images can...

Maybe this shoud be posted in the Hype forum ? Anyway, good overall look, text crually missing, especially since I don't have a sound card on my PC, some nice use of animation, like the room looking when arriving in the saloon but overall too much for my taste, I'd like to read faster. Sometimes imp...

At some point, png support was added to the image object, but it's dangerout to rely blindly on it since older VM won't deal with it. Some VM version checking and plan B stategy is needed (either alternate Gifs or external png handling object). PM checked but applet not working : class missing [EDIT...

OK, let's wait then. I won't be able to directly test it myself but will watch for comics made using your tool to pop up and will give indirect feedback thru these. I have a few question about the actual state of the tool : does it support png's partial transparency, image stacking and image stretch...

Well, looking at the access logs, no one really tried the rpn image generation script . I agree that the GUI is not nice and that some math knowlege is required to use it... Never mind. I'm a beginner at wxWidgets, this project might be a good occasion to practice it. I've never worked on a Mac so I don't know how hard it would be to port Cocoa/Objective C to C++. I've been told that dynamic binding of Objective C can be very tricky to adapt to C++. QT is too expensive for me and w...

I tried to create a comic, but I'm no artist. If anyone could provide me with a few panels, I'll create a small technology demo :) Markus You could use the first few pannels of a Zot online episode as an example with path, pannels of different size and layout. I'm very curious about the format of t...

Souds challenging, I love graph theory programming. Could you post just one of the original penciled images ? I may come with a way to partially automate the process : You'd give your original image to a program I would write, and it would give a randow line going everywhere and trying to reduce the...

HTML png wrapper

Here's a very easy to implement suggestion : IE users that do not have Quicktime plugin can't see png when there's a url link to them : when clicking on the link, they get the Save dialog box that normally comes wit octet/stream mime type. A solution to that is to point to an HTML wrapper : <html><b...

I searched a bit but am clueless on that one.
A Tarkin like interface where you'd zoom in to a clicked point until a certain constant zoom factor is reached is quite easy to do (and computationnaly heavy). But I don't have a clue where to put pannels and what pannels to choose.

Re: M. C. Escher and the Droste Effect

Frankly, I think that the spiral web comic engine is a novelty with very limited application in web comics. But don't let me discourage ShadowCaster from developing it or anyone who wants to use it for their comics. I agree it's very restrictive but it might very well become just a part of a more o...

Except for the page linking drawback, I think the reading interface to be well designed : A cookie is used to store current page, so if bookmarked, you return the last read page when returning. Webcomic engine for "The Neverending Comic"

I'm currently working on an engine to read a comic shaped as a spiral.
I think it might be to use in a neverending comic.
Are you interessed Scott ?
Here's a screen shot (88KB)
And http://www.zwol.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1261 to know more about it.
