My first choice was to do "Understands Puppetry" and make a puppet Scott but I just don't have that kind of time. :(

Ooops, I wasn't signed in when I posted that. I also forgot to mention that elements of the series are actually inspired by several print comics including Get Fuzzy, Dick Tracy and Peanuts.

Well, personally I have to apply Occam's Razor here - if you seem to be the only person experiencing difficulty on the site and cablecom is the ISP for all the machines you've tried chances are it's a cablecom problem as you suggested. Other than calling your ISP I'm not sure what to suggest. An Int...

A house full of McClouds

I thought some of you might enjoy this post from Neil Gaiman's blog.

Oh, and what on earth is "Camp Snoopy"?

Steve got interviewed in Comixpedia this week. It's a really great piece (yea Steve!). He deserves the attention.

Harry Potter Icon

Is it just me or is that icon kind of a rip on Neil Cicierega's Right Said Fred spoof "Sexy Snape". It looks very, very similiar. I was going to post a link to it but I noticed that Harry Potter Puppet Pals has exceeded it's monthly bandwidth. (BTW if anyone is a HP fan check back at that link Thurs...

Yeah, I know but he seems to have indicated if he does continue the actual web comic in another year or so he may only return to it for a year. Still, I'm eager to see what his other Melonpool-related projects will be.

What about vector-based images? Would that help?

I'm not that well-versed in java programming so I'm not completely aware of all the advantages/disadvantages of working with it, but I am wondering if something like this could be better achived in flash or shockwave. Just a thought.

Melonpool Ending

Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this or not, but I thought it was worth noting that one of the web's oldest comics "Melonpool" is ending it's run in a few days (I don't think Steve Troop has announced a final date yet) over at Keenspot.

re: Kurtz's Best Rant Ever

That was brilliant! I'm a former Mac disciple who also has been seduced by the lure of the ugly but cheap PC. I also know more than one Mac Zealot who hates me for it. Of course I also know Amiga Zealots who sit alone in their basements hating everybody so I don't really let it bother me. :P One of ...

I count myself a Caution Man fan...it's got a really unique vibe going. I can see how it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's a really clever - if somewhat off-beat - satire.

I did! I did!

And it's sad to note that like most Canadians I catch more American cultural/historical references than I do Canadian ones.

They have a good go at it , though: Thanks for posting that. My favourite part was where they wrote: When reading evolutionist literature, you will be astonished at the range of ideas concerning their supposed extinction. What - exactly - is "supposed" about the extinction of the dinosaurs? :-?

Yes, that's sort of it. I've always viewed religion from a metaphorical standpoint. I don't know that the specific details of any one belief system are as important as the underlying themes and issues that system is trying to address. And the closer you look at most belief systems the more you reali...

That's a good point.

Personally, I've always thought that the beauty of particpating in any belief system is the willingness to believe despite not knowing. Science, religion, atheism - they're all just different methods we use to try to make some sense out of this wacky world we live in.

Religion is like the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus... something good for teaching kids how to behave that you should then stop believing in once you get old enough to think for yourself. I don't personally subscribe to the simplistic "fairy tale" approach to religion that many religious folk do, but...

I think we all agree that the genius of the Tarquin engine is that it really is a single simple elegant system for navigation. I was showing "Mimi's Last Coffee" to a small room of web designers (who are largely unfamiliar with web comics and fussy about user interfaces) yesterday and they all comme...
