This'd work, but I'm a bit wary of over-complicating things from a comic creation point of view. of course you would need a GUI program where you load the pictures in high quality in and it does the rest by itself. if you would do this based on a plug in you could actually make the plug in have the...

That said, one bandwidth problem with the engine as currently written is, for daily-updating comics like the MI, you do have to download the whole comic each time. Could XML provide a way round this? this depends on your personal cache as it does when you use HTML. the pictures go into the cache an...

i guess the objections raised about flash are viable. but right now the use of flash in online comics is rather experimental. as soon as there is a more accepted engine used by various web comics it is probable someone programs a solution, which is not based on flash, as this could make files smalle...

Re: various tidbits
just a thought about the story. as this is her LAST coffee and she is already drinking it, this improv might be rather short or very slow... just a thought. I'm always a bit surprised to hear people take a phrase so literally, especially when there are alternate meanings. The story may consist of M...

I have an SDSL connection (256 kbps), but I am aware of a lot of people who only have a slow modem connection - especially in developing countries. IMHO it is always a good idea to save bandwidth. Peter ok i do agree with that. but the only way to save bandwidth in a reasonable way and to use an en...

connection speed
connected to my latest comments in the 'oh flash' discussion (see other thread, i wonder what connection speed people use to view webcomics. i post this in the MI section, as it is connected to the newest improv published in flash. (for more info see the other threads please.

do you have flash installed
going with the newest improv there is the question of flash. i wonder how much it is a standard for people reading the MI or not. i think this poll might be nescessary after reading the 'oh flash' discussion, see other thread.

one problem i see having a MI in the tarquin engine is the download time. where as a normal improv can be divided into multiple pages and in case of a chapter by chapter published comic you only download each chapter only once (or twice of course) the MI is downloaded every day and with the tarquin ...

The problem with vectors is that when you've got a lot of vector artwork (like an infinite canvas worth, say) flash is really slow to move the canvas about or zoom in and out. In contrast, I've found that Flash can scale and move bitmaps around very smoothly, even when there's a whole bunch of pane...

various tidbits
the style reminded me a at first of zen dating. now i see both together, of course i can see the difference. i like this b/w + 1 colour style. it is very expressive. just a thought about the story. as this is her LAST coffee and she is already drinking it, this improv might be rather short or very s...

i recommend you to have a look at the stuff merlin did on his website. his creations with this engine are quiet interesting. i like especially the first one. the new ongoing externalities still have to show, what they will bring. the tarquin engine is one of the most interesting developments in the ...

thanks
that was a nice MI. i really enjoyed it (except of the strong gollum impact in the middle, but someone reading the MI in a year or two, won't realise). i was a bit afraid you (scott) would ruin the very well paced story telling with a punchline coming up at some point. but no, the comic fades out an...

this reminds me how different the comic landscape is in the states compared to europe. i was first of all not thinking about serials, but single book publications like UC & RC by scott, blankets, cages, and alot of others. especially interesting would be the numbers for comics, which have been trans...

log out problems
since the new version i seem to log out all the time/not log in automatically. i use a macos x system with safari 1.0 v85.7. i'd be happy about some hints how to fix the bug.

does print pay off?
hey everyone, i wondered if print pays off? how much does an artist get per sold book or does he get paid a certain amount fixed? and how much does he get off translated comics? is the amount rather dependent on the length of the comic or the price it is sold for? how much difference is their for a ...

How would you guys like to see this end? Everything which comes into my mind(s?) is much longer than just a few panels. I'd wish them that they meet again and find some way to improve their lives. This means that they must deal somehow with the other two minds - which needs time. Peter Er, does it?...

What about stuff like Spiro and Tintin and other European comics. I started with those, then stopped reading comics for a while, and got back into comics with Heavy Metal (though on average I liked less than half of the stories in each magazine). Cheers, Ragnar p.s. Do you get much of those 48/64 p...

Appreciate it. I view myself as the webcomics version of Ozzy. Able to do the most with my limited talents, but rocking hard none the less. when i read that first sentence i thaught you always eat a bat before you start drawing... ok bad joke! but i still imagine a ozzy kind of drawing style as mor...

besides there is quiet a bunch of successful comic artist, which say, they can't paint. lewis trondheim, famous french artist, says, it took him a while to find a style, which he could actually fulfil with his bad abilities of drawing. you can find examples of his style on his website: www.lewistron...

BTW, we're close to the end. Not super-close, but close. which reminds us to make our last votes... and this sentence now allows me to make a comment completely unrelated to the story... hey scott: in the list of upcoming titles 'Stop Shooting Me!' is listed with 159 votes - but twice. once where i...
