There's book coming out next year. Doesn't really help you now, but it's still good to know there's more information coming.

In any case, the book is:

Toon Art: The Graphic Art of Digital Cartooning, by Steven Withrow. It will be published by Watson-Guptill in June 2003.

I think the problem with this sort of layout is that there's no consistency from artist to artist as to which order you read them in. The most effective use of that sort of layout I've seen is to use the long panel to show something that's happening concurrently with the events in panels one and two...

Your posts in this thread give no indication that ...

Brian Clevinger at 8-bit Theatre has shown that this can work, to an extent -- he brings in around $1,000 every month in donations. Of course, he does give people an exclusive wallpaper (new one each month) in exchange for their donation, but I really doubt that many people are donating because they...

Man, but I would love to do this. If I wasn't already caught up in about a dozen other projects (including three grad school courses, and publishing a whole other magazine), I'd be all over this. If anyone is thinking of making a go at it, and is looking for advice or input on the publishing aspects...

I am still very keen to submit something to the magazine, and have actually devoted the month of November (I will taking a brief break from a number of other projects) to penning a graphic "novella" which I would like to send your way (when is the deadline for the next issue, by the way?). Please d...

That's why I stick to using entire humans in my comics- If you just use the head or a hand or even a fetus (as it seems), then it's, "Oh, I've seen another comic where one of the characters is just a hand," Oh, I don't know. With as many comic fetuses as we've named already, I'd say the fetuses are...

The one up now is unimpressive. Even though it just launched, there's a lready an archive, and some of them are better. I'll certainly give it more of a chance than a single strip, but since I can't subscribe yet, I'm going to have to take it one strip at a time. The head is actually a charachter i...

Good point, Wikkit -- having the sub would definitely allow more freedom to read when time allows. And having access to archives would certainly be helpful. I've been reading Odd Jobs and Return of the Green Skull on ModerTales for at least a month or two now, and I still haven't the foggiest notion...

My problem now is that I have to stop reading some of what I am already reading in order to keep up. Yeah, I know what you mean. Reading my comics each morning eats up far more time than I can really afford. If I had cable modem, it wouldn't be so bad, but over dial-up, it can take me a couple of h...

There's also Arsenic Lullabye, wherein Voodoo Joe keeps zombie fetuses as servants, due to the fact that they're easier to maintian and control than full-grown zombies. I'm not sure it could be attributed to shock value, because I just don't think it's all that shocking anymore. Although, that's pro...

Personally, doing three grad school courses has kept me from being as active online as I ordinarily am. I'm sure a lot of other people are in school too, which would certainly contribute to the slowdown.

I totally agree. Serializer has me much more excited than Adventure Strips did. I think it's just a different market, The roster is pretty amazing, and it looks to be a little more experimental. I am also looking forward to MT Longplay. I think it will add value to what's on MT now (btw, has anyone...

The kind of person that don't read comics, or simply have stereotyped image of what comics are, will look at the book in the shelf and say: "Well, this is different, let me see what its all about"... Well, yes, that's precisely the idea. I think that's how we'd all like to see it work. The kind of ...

I can understand why, and I'm sure that your reasoning is quite accurate, but I worry that by taking people away from the original site, and thinning the roster, MT may risk alienating some subscribers, and there may be less money to go around come renewal time. I hope that's not the case, but even...
