wow. this is great. if that image was a vector image, it would be even more cool.
a friend of mine did something in one of his online comics that sort of fits into this sort of topic. He created a graphic in Flash that contains a really small object that you can't really make out the details of at 100%. If you zoom in, though, the image quality stays the same, and you can see that it is a Spiderman doll (5th panel down from the top, not counting the begining graphic with the moon. Right click on the desk to zoom in and find the Spiderman doll). He doesn't have any zoom-in animation like this Veer Zoom thing, but the two ideas combined might be interesting.

I also remember one of Mr. McCloud's ideas having to do with clicking on images within one frame to go to the next frame. This kind of thing could be really cool when mixed with animation like the Veer Zoom thing.
If I weren't so busy working on a new print comic, I'd try something like this out right away. It sounds like a lot of fun.
The closest thing I've come to this kind of thing is an experiment with panels that enlarge when you click on them:

Well, if it was a vector image, the whole point would be moot.gazorenzoku wrote:wow. this is great. if that image was a vector image, it would be even more cool.
He's been working on it- It's called "The Right Number." No idea when it'll be complete.gazorenzoku wrote:I also remember one of Mr. McCloud's ideas having to do with clicking on images within one frame to go to the next frame.

ok, now here is where I totally let loose with the ignorance. What is "native support for zooming vector images"?Greg Stephens wrote:Because Flash already has native support for zooming vector images.
Does it mean that you can do the same thing with a vector image that you can do with that bitmap photo at http://www.veer.com/zoom/? I'm totally lost here.
Now, I understand that my ignorance might take away from the main discussion here, which is if this new technology can be used in comics or not. I don't want to interupt the main discussion.
Anyhow, I thought that it was great and would be great for use in comics. As for how? Maybe Scott McClouds kids can teach us...

Well it isn't veer technology. I found the site where they sell it, and it is free for non-commercial websites. He doesn't have any zoom-in animation like this Veer Zoom thing, but the two ideas combined might be interesting.
It's a java applet (don't know zit about how flash works or how it is used in flash, though), and you can find it here:
