Small Fries

Post by eveil »

Well im not much for hype, so how about i just show you the way to my work:

erickveil.com is my site (named after yours truly), which i have just recently set up. I've been drawing comics just for fun and for my friends, filled with inside jokes since junior high. In my old age, Ive noticed that my comics are less personal and more widely identifiable, so I thought I would share them. If you have any, I enjoy recieving the sort of criticism you would expect to get from your anal retentive figure drawing professor. I hope you dreive a little enjoyment from your visit.

Drowning the Fish is a collection of rude, immature humor that I had begun dumping from my head into comic form so the bad jokes would stop leaking out of my mouth and ruining my daily life. It actualy started as something I emailed to a small list of friends for a couple years. I'm in the process of converting it all to web-page format since I set up my site.

The Illuminated Bosch is currently my favorite project. I've always wanted to imagine explanations for exactly what the heck is going on exactly in the paintings of Bosch. I find The Extraction of the Stone of Madness alone to hold a nearly infinite comic value within its borders.

The Floating World is (will be) a slow paced comic (actualy, series of short story comics) without words. It taks the most work and time for me to produce, yet I get the most artistic return out of each page. I just wish I could work faster sometimes. There is only one page so far.

Also, I guess that if you realy bend the definition of a comic, you could count Operation Ed as a comic, but actualy, its just my blog. I thought it would be clever to disguise it in comic form.

I've liked what little I've seen. The pages keep timing out :( .

Thanks for the complement. :)

Is anyone else having the timeout problem? Maybe I should contact my host..

My new game fever has finaly subsided enough to get some comics posted.

I have a new Bosch posted. There are some older ones in never announced up too, so you might want to move back thru the archives to see if you missed any potentialy good gags.

I've also completed the posting for the final six strips in the Drowning the Fish, Volume 1. These and the rest of volume two are easier to reformat, because by this point when I was laying them out, I was thinking more along the lines of an on-screen format. Now to start on volume 2..

Another update this week. Another Bosch, Bosch is easy. Most of my work this week went into the next page for The Floating World.

I'm a lot happier about the flow of this one; the proportions of the panels, and the transition from one pane to the next. I spent a little time reading some of Neil Cohn's Initial Refiner Projection, and it helped a bunch with my grammar.

Just wanted to post that there is a little more work up this week.

I have finaly finished archiving Drowning the Fish. Now all of the pieces are available to see with these last eight strips. Format from this point should be more uniform and screen friendly, now that I am designing with an end medium in mind.

The Illuminated Bosch is getting a new schedual. It will be updated every M/W/F and we will see how well I work on deadlines with no treats as a reward.

Dinosaur Comics was one part of the inspiration there (I read that one as often as I can). I figured that if I was going to rip off a good gimic, I might as well rip off some good art in the process. ;)

I have a new page of The Floating World today. Just finished it now. Man is it a lot of work to produce a page, but man is it a rewarding experience.

Also check out The Illuminated Bosch while you're at it. I've been updating on the new schedule.
