(no, wait- he's Jack Diamond, according to the earlier card- I'm getting so confused... Anyhow, it's still clever- Bogart playing Sam Spade used for the Spade appearance of Jack Diamond. Yeah, that's it!)

In hte original card, the king of hearts had arrows sticking out his back, but in the 8 of clubs, the coroner found he was poisioned. Overkill or planted evidence, I wonder?

Hmm, it's implied that the poison was found in the gastrointestinal system (i.e. it was something he "eight"), but the king is also shown staggering around with the arrows in his back, so he was alive before the arrows. I'm thinking it could be a Gosford Park scenario but with really slow-acting poison.

Or perhaps the doctor is in on the deal. The King is shot, but somebody pays the doc to announce that he was poisoned?

I'd like to do the 7 of spades. Since my artistic talents are very lacking, I'm planning on raytracing it, which would mean that it wouldn't be ready until Monday. If there are objections to that, someone else can have it.

Ok, here's the text, or a reasonable approximation thereof. It opens up another unexplained plot thing in that we don't know why the Spades would have interrupted the funeral.

"The House of Hearts started with 13 brainwashing drugs. They didn't all work."

"The Clan of Spades was employed to bury the Hearts' mistakes."

Umm...wouldn't the House of Hearts have to start with 15 brainwashing drugs in order to get down to the 8 that were in Anthony's panel?

(And yes, I know that 13 is a more dramatic number, but isn't 15 the right number?)

I didn't say that they only used each of the bad drugs once.

The story so far:

The King of Hearts was killed by unknown archers, and poisoned by the Clubs. The Queen of Clubs cast suspicion on herself. Jack Diamond smirked at the King's death.

To Little Miss 9's dismay, the Spade clan disrupted the funeral. After the funeral, everyone went to the Diamond's Lucky 7 strip club, including the Spades. The Kings five sons then shot up the strip club, making the Queen of Spades' spies leave. They were rewarded, then killed by a eunuch forest monster.

Witnesses of the King's murder saw a tatoo on one of the killers. The tatoo was later found by the King of Spades on the Queen of Diamonds, his secret lover. Jack Spade/Diamond continued to have a part in the story, without actually ever doing anything.

The Hearts then offered a reward for information about the killers or the tattoo. If the reward didn't work, they'd resort to clubbing people, or using one of their hallucinogenic drugs. Some of the drugs were deadly, and the Hearts had hired the Spades to take care of the mistakes.

The six of hearts has already been spoken for, which means that the 5 of Clubs is the next card. Greg, you should do this one.

Plot holes that could use a filling: Is Jack going to ever do anything? What's the relationship between the King and Queen of Clubs? Why are the Spades now enemies of the Hearts if they used to be employed by them? Who has the other tattoo, if there is another tattoo, and what's the relation to the Queen of Diamonds?
