I really like this!

I'd lean a lot more towards the "different" side than the "comics," though.
It's like comics-inspired animation.

A good measure I've found is audience involvment.
Doroithy Gambrell said "It?s a comic if the reader determines the pace at which it is read."

That may be a bit too reductionist, but I think it's a good start.
