Shameless Plug...
Moderator: Moderators
Howdy,
I know I shouldn't use the board for this purpose, and there really aren't that many wildly inventive tricks about it, but I'm doing guest strips all this week at Diesel Sweeties. Each day is drawn as if it were being drawn by a different character from the cast of the comic. (Friday's the best, IMHO.)

who will get around to registering for this board eventually...

A "shameless plug" forum does sound like a good idea, but
(a) I don't think that we have that many regulars on the board to warrant a separate forum (we're up to what? 15? 20?) unless we somehow become wildly more prolific, and
(b) I wouldn't want it to balkanize the discussion. I think that the hubbub at the BCN toon talk board about moving the link was rather unmerited, since the topic of discussion was directly related to what was being talked about on the RC boards (if you look at keenspot boards or pretty much any other BBS known to humankind, they do the same thing...it's the nature of hypertext). If they're worried about people being drawn away from the BCN toon talk boards, well...it doesn't have to be a zero sum game, does it?
Rules is rules, I guess.
Thanks for the praise, everbody...

Yeah, my thought was more along the lines of making it easy to find links to new comics and people's work, more of an organizational aid and a way to see new stuff has been put out there for folks to look at.
I think posting links in context of discussion is very appropriate too.
Post 'em BOTH places!
Just didn't want to miss someone's work because the link was the 34th posting to a thread I wasn't really following.

You'd trust zwol in my hands, Greg?
Actually, I was going to say something to the extent of "first diesel sweeties, then bobbins, now all i need is to take over zwol and my bid for world domination will be complete," but I figured I'd never be able to steal the reins.
I'm definitely interested, if you're game. I'll just have to see where I stand when I finish the bobbins week.
(Did I mention the diesel sweeties spinoff miniseries that I've been working on with rstevens...it should launch in a week or so, probably the same time as the bobbins week.)
Sleep beckons...

I'm responding to the part of this post that touched on BCN, posting to other boards and all that sort of stuff.
I'm putting together a new site called ThreadMole, over at:
http://www.free-conversant/threadmole/
The idea of it is that it can be a place where anyone interested in online comics can go to find interesting threads from all of the online comics boards and message forums. Threads that are interesting/useful to the online comics community at large.
ThreadMole doesn't have any message boards of it's own. As the idea is to point discussions to where they are taking place and fostering them there, instead of reinventing the wheel and going through the same old same old on its own boards.
The 'mole' in ThreadMole, comes from Reinventing Comics, where Scott talks about how 'insiders' can make a difference, gettng comics attention and space in the worlds the moles are in. I'm hoping that editors and moderators (or at least SOMEONE) from the various on-line comic boards will play the role of 'mole' for their own boards, and if a good discussion is going on, let the ThreadMole know about it.
ThreadMole is so serious about not 'taking' traffic itself, but rather, spreading it around to where the discussions are, that all the content will syndicatable via javascript (like Moreover's newsfeeds) so that folks can have it integrating nicely into their own sites, and help promote good discussion without losing traffic to the Mole.
So, if you 'get around' on the net, and find useful threads, please let ThreadMole know.
The URL again:
http://www.free-conversant.com/threadmole
If you want anymore info etc., e-mail me. lyle@mooloo.com
Cheers
Lyle
