Hi, Scott here.

As you may have seen in the "Cat's Back" thread, The San Diego Con is hosting an online comics panel that could be really something.

Currently planned for Saturday at 2pm, there'll be two panels back-to-back: "The Art of Online Comics" and "The Business of Online Comics." I'm moderating/organizing the "Art" panel (and will be on the Biz panel). The five web artists coming are all first-rate and I strongly encourage you to visit their sites if you haven't already. They are:

DEMIAN 5

CAT GARZA

PATRICK FARLEY

TRISTAN FARNON

DAVID GADDIS

THREE out of those five are coming to San Diego BECAUSE of this panel -- Demian is coming all the way from ZURICH, SWITZERLAND! -- so if you're coming to San Diego too, you really owe it to yourself to be there.

Now the catch is, one of the most important names on that list, my pal Cat Garza, is going to be scraping every last penny to make the flight from Austin TX, so now we're asking everyone within the sound of my keyboard to Shower him with Pennies from Heaven by going to Magic Inkwell right now and dropping a few dollars (or up to fifty if you're in the mood!) into his Amazon or Paypal Tip Jars. I want this to be the best Online Comics panel EVER and it just wouldn't be the same without Cat!!

See you in S.D.

Whoops. The link in Scott's post to the comicon is also not quite right. (At least for me).

***Late Breaking News****
I entered the URL manually and they are having troubles updating their site, so problem is probably on their end.

Hmmm...

Anyone feel like doing a video for quicktime or realvideo distribution?

Barring that, any volunteers for a taping/transcribing?

i'm lucky that i get to go to the con to see this "live", and if i had either the video means or skill, i'd help out...

heck, i wish i even had a tape recorder -- i'd gladly transcribe it for you all (if someone brings a tape recorder and records the affair, i'll still volunteer to transcribe it)

I would gladly tape the whole thing if I was going. I wonder how much airfare would be from Pittsburgh and where I could stay...

Anyone want to pitch in to get it taped? Could maybe some company sponsor it and be broadcast via their Web site?

Later,
Randy

Curses! As if it wasn't bad enough that I don't have the money to go! I don't suppose anybody will be swinging through Maine on their way to San Diego? Perhaps I can hitch a ride with Demian...

If you do get a transcript/video/whatnot posted somewhere, be sure to let us unfortunate stuck-at-homes know about it when it happens. Is there any chance that people who can't be there in person can still ask questions of the panel via the web? It would be great if it could be done in real time, but probably easier to collect queries beforehand. Just a random idea I thought I'd toss out there.

There's an outside chance I can convince my boss to send my grimacing underling to the SD Con, and if so I can most definitely get him to record these two panels on video. I'll be bringing this up tomorrow, and report back.
