I thought Monkey A's power was already revealed...he can stretch a la Reed Richard or Plastic Man.
As for Monkey X, I figured he's either a wheelchair bound telepathic mutant, or a militant civil rights leader.
And how did they get that Lancelot Link to talk? That was one talented chimp. (Actually, I remember seeing that show as a little kid, and having nightmares with talking monkeys in them. To me, it was scarier than Planet of the Apes, because I knew that was obviously actors in ape suits. But Lancelot was a REAL monkey.) _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. Hey, in the giant cosmic super-combined frame, it's MULTIPLE not MULTPLE...at least, unless there's some kinda mutated monkey meaning to the word MULTPLE. _________________ I am mostly made of water. |

Also, in the ENOUGH! text box, there should be a comma after "mind-slaves."

That reminds me, you should all go read Fluble, particularly the storyline "Why is the Boiled Lobster Singing", Because it's really good! This should probably go in the hype forum. _________________ House of Stairs |

This is the most fun than I've had in my mornings in a long time.
In the odd but relevant coincidence department: years ago I was working for Wizards of the Coast, the folks responsible for not only Magic: the Gathering but the Pokemon trading cards, which swept through our grade schools like crack cocaine through the inner cities, and whose brightly colored warriors bear a certain resemblance to a certain current Daily Improv.
WOTC was in many ways a deeply depressing place, sort of like student government if only the geeks were elected to posts. As I contemplated leaving its corporate confines for a place where the purpose of the company was NOT to hook 12 year olds on crappy recycled fantasy or bizarre Japanese anime, a friend told me, "I can see that look in your eyes. You're just getting ready to say 'Nertz to Monkeytown!'"
Which I did soon after.
Scott's Monkeytown looks much more colorful and fun than the Monkeytown I toiled away in. |

Coincidentally enough, I was thinking the Monkeytown setting might be nice not for the RPG others suggested but for a collectable trading card game, except skip the collectable part and just make it a boxed set.
Perhaps someone should pitch it to Cheapass Games. |

That would be where I got my signature. Maybe I should turn it into a link or something.
I like the Meta Monkey idea, but I'm thinking it should be an ?bermonkey. _________________ - Colin Langton

Well, more to the point, if it's not working, then why? Or if it is, then why? I thought that was the point of the morning improv, to have kind of a fail-safe environment to try out crazy ideas in, and figure out how to use them. |

Pshh. When I say something, don't expect it to mean anything. For me, the prefix "?ber-" just means... I dunno, big or something. It's an all-purpose prefix. Although I guess it doesn't matter now that we have a giant mechanical monkey instead.
Hey, how'd it get mechanical? Where'd the machine come from? Well, this seems to be a parody of the generic "superhero team" comic, wherein this sort of thing presumably happens regularly... but still, I GOTS to know, yo! _________________ - Colin Langton

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Greg edited this message to save the message board from major side-scrolling! For those who came in late, the word "NO!" originally contained several hundred "O"'s. |

Now this comic is really similar to that dreadful show. THe evil monster is always almost defeated, and then is morphed into a giant monster. The rangers then thier giant robot and have the same fight they have every episode. Fooie. (the power rangers being in thier 134th different show.)
And in reply to Penner Theologius, It doesn't work for me because it seems like every other action comic, movie, anything else that I've seen or read. THe different monkeys are interesting though. _________________

If you ask me (and you why wouldn't you), Monkey Town has got everything a comic fan could ever want: a slew of primates, superpowers, labratory equipment, mind control, giant heads, dead presidents, cool gadgets, cavemen, cowboys, gangsters, rioting, and now ROBOTS!
Me, I can't wait until the next installment. I'm so excited, I just wet my pants. Now, excuse me, while I go change my underwear. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

It's missing someone crying on the cover, dinosaurs, an unanswered question on the cover, and, of course, the color purple. |

Gee, I forgot to add dinosaurs to my list, but Monkey Town DOES indeed have dinosaurs...Monkeysaur Dinopower Attack.
I also spot various shades of purple used liberally through out the strip.
As for the cover there is none, yet.
But since you mentioned it, by your standards, and the way the stip has progressed; my idea for the Monkey Town cover goes as follows...a multi-layered action sequence chock full of stuff. In the foreground we put a close up of our lovely blond haired monkey gal, bawlling he eyes out. Behind her, a huge crowd, citizens fleeing, and the Monkey Team dukin' out with the Monkey Mind-Slaves. Emerging from the center of this crowd is the dreaded, giant, Mechanical Monster Monkey; his arms raised up menacingly. Glowing behind the robot monkey is the Giant Floating Monkey Head, looking even more menacing than the robot. Splattered across the action is our unanswered question..."Will Monkey Town Survive the Terror of the Mechanical Monster?" _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. I really like MonkeyTown! It is a dead-on parody of the style, and has a lot of charm. I hope Scott will take it beyond the scope of Morning Improv eventually.
Hey, I wonder if there is any chance of sneaking a cameo appearance by Butch in there somewhere.
Meanwhile, evolution ray, anyone...?

This is starting to remind me of the movie Being John Malkovich (http://www.beingjohnmalkovich.com/). Except they're saying, "Monkey? Monkey! Monkey monkey, monkey..."
Later,
