And no one can, or wants to, swim. This is just an analogy I thought of when thinking about how comics could stay afloat today. What's really happening here is that <a href="http://www.scottmccloud.com">everyone</a> <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com">is</a> <a href="http://www.pvponline.com">talking</a> <a href="http://www.goats.com">about</a> <a href="http://www.elflife.com">it</a>, but no one seems to want to actually take action and try any one of the systems that have been talked about. The subscription model is feasible, because I have seen it done elsewhere, but as Jon Rosenberg of <a href="http://www.goats.com">Goats</a> put it in an e-mail he sent me, "An excellent question. But I'm not going to risk alienating my audience to answer it." That's the problem...I don't think anyone is...which is why we're still going to sit at <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/">panels</a> and talk on message boards until someone takes the first step.
