I know I'm being picky, but is it Zen?

Post by wansley »

I know I'm being picky, but exactly what kind of flowers are those shown in the first few panels supposed to be? They look like daisies, but in panel six the woman says they have thorns.

I think the man's hair is rather weird; sort of like a grown up Charley Brown trying a new 'do.

Aside from those admittedly minor quibbles, I like the visual style of this new strip a lot. But I'm not sure that minimalist, oriental-inspired artwork and telegraphic, vaguely philosophical dialog are enough to make it "Zen."

No, definitely not the real thing. I just used the term in the shallow sense of something minimalist, experiential and vaguely eastern, figuring it would be a bit funnier that way.

Thanks for that one. I needed a laugh (especially one at Zen's expense).

Wild roses look like that, albeit with fewer petals (around five). They aren't that pretty, either, and they don't have much smell.

Looks kind of "nouvelle vague" to me.
You know, Marguerite Duras, this bunch of lazyheads.

Ow. He says.
Period.
