Am I missing something, or did the Blog go from 08/01 to 09/01 then BACK IN TIME to 08/01 then forward again to 09/01? It would seem that Scott McCloud has added a time machine to his impressive array of inventions . |

Now excuse me, I have a hot date with Marie Antoinette. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

It would seem that the problem has been solved. Either that, or Scott used his time machine go back to erase all of the evidence. Don't think I'm not onto you. You're playing with DAAAAAANGEROUS forces, Mr. McCloud. |

I think once Scott goes back in time, and falls in love with a woman (don't worry, we tell the missus) only to find out that she must die or doom the world to a nuclear holocaust; THEN he'll learn. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. Fry: Won't that change history?

Ooops, sorry for the typo. Should be "we WON'T tell"; lest anyone think we would rat you out, Scottso.
As for Futurama...Billy West is a vocal god. I miss those days when he was a regular on the Howard Stern Show. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

You don't have to worry about me ruining it, because (to my eternal shame) I don't actually know what the next line of the song is. I'm waiting patiently for a more devoted fan than myself. |

Please! No more Rocky Horror references! I can't take any more!
I'd rather sit through root-canal, than sit through that annoying movie again. There's not enough weed in all the world that could get me high enough to enjoy that flick. The only thing worse thing I can think of is being forced to sit through Ken Russell's butchery of Tommy (the only good thing about that one was watching Ann-Margret rolling around in baked beans - hubba, hubba).
If I had a time machine, the first thing I do is make sure both those movies never got made. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

You can spout off political nonsense all you want, but this time you've gone too far....
Ok, turns out I don't actually care enough to come up with some kind of angry respose. Ah, well. Once again, peace is preserved by laziness. |

I know some people love that flick more than thier mother's and children; but sorry folks, I just never "got" the whole Rocky Horror thing. Back in the day, people tried to drag me to a midnight show on more than one occasion, but I had no desire to attend that whole freakshow (besides, I'd rather go to a midnight show of Song Remains The Same). Then eventually, someone rented it and tried to make me sit through it. I think I got up and excused myself after about 15 minutes. But then again, I was never into musicals, period.
I'm not saying my taste in movies are that much better. I've hard a time getting people to sit through Bowery Boys marathons with me. "OK, boys, Routine 6!" _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

I can accept that it's really not for everybody, but if you've never seen it with an audience, and you only ever saw 15 minutes of it on video, then you've never given yourself over to absolute pleasure. You've also never sat through it, so you really can't say you'd rather do something than sit through it again since you didn't sit through it the first time.
But you're probably just as well off, even so. It's one of those movies that people love, not because it's any good (except in a "so bad it's good" way- Well, the music IS pretty good, actually), but because they like to turn off their good-taste-detectors for a little while and have fun.
Though I have my own weak spots as well- Both for movies that I enjoy where others don't and movies others enjoy that I can't stand. I actually did sit all the way through Barbarella and found that it's one of the few movies to cause me actual physical pain while I was watching it, it was so bad. Conversely, I really wish I could get Ishtar on DVD. _________________ Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba. |

Yeah, I've heard about the whole thing with people coming to the theater in costume, yelling at the screen (where I grew up, people yelled at the screen in the theater no matter what movie was showing), and throwing toast. That's one of the reason I DIDN'T wanna go. That ain't my scene, Daddy-O. I actually have tuned past various parts of the film when they've showed it VH1, and each time I had to flip to another channel after a few minutes. I just can't take it.
As for Barbarella, I remember checking that out on cable when I was a horny teenager (not that I'm any less horny now), because a friend had told me that there were "heaps of sexy, buck naked chicks". Well, turned out he was exagerating, just a bit. Your right, Greg, it's a pretty dopey flick.
Of course, NOTHING is worse than an Andy Warhol film. Back in Art School, I was going out with a girl who tried to make sit through a couple of those. It was like watching a badly acted porno (not that I've seen any WELL acted pornos), but without any of the hardcore sex. They were even worse than the couple of John Waters flicks she made watch. Then again, this girl was from Oklahoma. They're pretty starved for entertainment out there. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J.
