Hi everyone,

I recently interviewed Scott McCloud over the phone. Much of it is about the Gary Groth review of Reinventing Comics - covering areas that I didn't think he addressed very well within his reply. I also ask questions regarding conflicts he's had with other creators as of late. Other topics touched are the DC Disclaimer within Reinventing Comics, micropayments, and his future work. It's quite long and probably my best interview yet.

Apologies to the moderators for double posting this, but I thought people here would want to read this.

It's good that Groth posted his review on the web, because I have no plans to ever buy another issue of The Comics Journal again.
Or perhaps it's bad, because reading Groth's bile just re-emphasized all the reasons that I stopped buying the Journal in the first place
Groth was a newsgroup flamer before newsgroups even existed! It's curious how he has to take something he's read and argue every little implication and nuance of it and turn it into "The Life and Death of the Universe", even if it means mischaracterizing what the writer was saying.
Scott has more graciousness than I could manage to give Groth...

Well, I'm not a regular reader of TCJ, but I don't think we should dismiss the entire publication out of hand based on Groth's near-militant stance on the State of Comics in America. Even Scott has said (in the interview referenced in the first post of this thread): "Yeah a scorched earth review, and [he] even jokingly said in the subject line of his original e-mail that there was a hatchet job on the way. Which ironically, he considered a serious review, but yeah, he?s always been like this. We would expect no less of him."
Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba.
