I made an 80 x 15 button to link to ScottMcCloud.com from my new blog:

I don't know what Scott thinks, but I think that's pretty cool.
(And you may not have meant it this way, but when I saw the item on your blog headlined "Ashes to Ashes," I immediately thought it was a Bowie reference and thought that was pretty cool, too. Probably inferring something that wasn't there, though.) _________________ Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba. |

As soon as Scott says this use of his picture is OK, I'd like to give the button up to the public domain.
As for "Ashes to Ashes," sorry, but I was referring to Genesis and funeral tradition as well as playing on Ashcroft's name. Not that it matters, because I threw out the silly entry. |

But it's so... teeny. Some of us squinty types might need a few more pixels. _________________ Lisa Renee Jonté

Fair point, but this particular button is done in the style of those cute little buttons that are in fashion among many bloggers these days. Hope that explains the size and style. (Correct me if I'm wrong about this, Decaf.)
If anybody's looking for a slightly larger link image that's 100% McCloud-approved, he's provided one over at his FAQ page. It looks like this:

| Yeah, if I used a bigger template, I would have used the eye icon. Unfortunately, I'm limited to 80x15 to match the other buttons on my blog (some of which come from the site Greg linked to). That site links to a great custom button-maker that I use to enter the text before I slide in a picture using the GIMP. |

| I don't like the eye. It doesn't make be think of Scott the way the "head with glasses" does. |

I hated the UC eyes, but I like the RC double-eye.
I really detest the shapes of eyes. In general. |

Sorry for the delayed response. Been a busy week.
I think the button is fine. Eventually I'll make some standard button images for convenience's sake, but people are always welcome to roll their own.
(I sometimes get emails from people requesting to link to me and use an image to do so and I'm just confused. Since when do we have to ask permission for that sort of thing?? I mean, jeez... The web would grind to a halt if that wasn't already fair use!) |

True enough. But here's a suggestion which might help to head off those emails: Your linking policy is buried within your FAQ page and even though I knew you'd posted a linking policy with a grapahic, I still had to search to find it. You may wish to consider adding this information to your Links section (but not removing it from the FAQ, naturally). Maybe if it had its own heading alongside "resources," "misc," "top ten" and "Ratafia Studios." Call it something like "link to me" and that should be clear enough. _________________ Good morning!
