Well... I like to think that they could exist in another reality. If an infinite amount of other realities really exist then I suppose they've gotta be in one of 'em. _________________ "The way to a man's heart is through his ribcage" |

I thought string theory only left room for the possibility of 11.
Not that I understand string theory or anything.
And while I'll grudgingly admit to sometimes feeling as if I know the characters from my comics, even very nearly regarding them something approaching real people, I tend to regard it as a byproduct of drawing, writing, and developing their personalities for so long. A well-developed, complex character can seem very real; a lot of cartoonists, when backed into a corner, will admit to wondering... and even knowing... exactly what their characters would say in any given situation, about any given thing. But I can't really make that jump to that "existing in another dimension" theory. That way lies madness.

A I recall, string theory is refering to how many dimentions are rolled up in this particular universe. This does not necessarily mean that other universes could not exist.
As for maddness...I'd say i'm already there, or at least partly bordering on it.

She pronounces "Bastid" just like I do. She MUST be from the NY metro area.
I just realized: She's got a book on Rome, and he's got a Roman nose. It's roamin' all over his face. [rimshot]
Thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the brisket.

I wonder if there's an alternate universe where Scott has a beard, and is a die-hard Republican...and I'm a left-wing peacenik. Only a transporter accident during an ion storm with allow us to know for sure.

Rarely have I enjoyed a thread about an ongoing Improv more than this one. Keep at it with the paradoxical whackiness of modal logics! _________________ zerofoks @ the Radical Artist Foundation |

You know what would be even freakier than the two of them turning out to be different aspects of the same person? There could genuinely be two people, but each of them has one of Sean's personalities and one of Sophie's personalities. So when Sean is talking to himself, it's actually two people talking to teach other, but when Sean and Sophie are talking, it's one person talking to himself.
Or... maybe there are actually four different people! |

I just noticed, flipping down through the panels today, the gradual darkening from afternoon into night-time.
How far in advance do you suppose Scott plans something like that? It doesn't seem like something that could have been done impulsively. |

I predict, hoping that it is not true, that Frank = Sean's other personality, or something like that, which is how he knows.
Don't you let me be right, Scott McCloud - if you make us love your hero and throw him in the mud we may never trust him again... of course, our hero is already covered in mud... and dirt... being a hobo... yeah. |

What did Mr. McCloud use to create the lights along the bridge? A low-transparency, soft-edge brush, it looks like.
How old are Sean and Sophie? Any guesses? |

I wonder if that sky shot means our story is nearing the end, or if it just a device for a scene change.
And they both lived crazily ever after.

What's the red square in the last panel? Any ideas? Or is it just some weirdness in my monitor? _________________ READIN |

Umm... no.
Infinity entails nothing of the kind. It would be possible for there to be infinitely many realities, all of which were like ours except that they differed in the number of cheese danishes in the universe. (Regarding infinity, cf. the infinite monkey comic.)

Here comes the No'Eastah!
Hey, Scott, why the panels in progress, today? Are you busy planning some elaborate April Fool joke on us?
I do believe Chrono is correct. My friends and I posed for a picture in front of that CITGO sign when we made our Fenway field-trip, back in '95. Years ago, when I started driving, my father told me never to fill up at CITGO, because it's lousy gas (we've always been a Mobil family). He always called it "SHITGO".
The sign can also be seen in the movie Field Of Dreams.
Now, what I don't understand is why Bostonians consider a neon oil company sign a landmark. Actually, I guess I shouldn't talk. We in New York considerer the Silvercup sign on the Queens side of the East River (featured in the climactic battle scene of Highlander) a landmark, and the Silvercup bakery has been out of buisness since the early '70s. Too bad; they made good bread. _________________ "Park the beers, and grab the smiles. It's flight time." - LtCdr. J. Robert "Bobby" Stone, USN (R.I.P.) |

It's not a landmark because it's a good thing. It's a landmark because if you've lived any length of time there, that sign is burned into your brain. I lived a few blocks away when I was an undergrad at Boston U, and any glimpse of that colossal eyesore brings it all back. |

Two bits says Sean and Sophie both stay with Fathah Leary. The more likely alternative is that they separate and never see each other again. Considering the weather, Sean could die. And no, I'm not hoping for that end. |

Well, the damn thing can be seen from pretty much every seat at Fenway, so of course you can see it in the movie.
Mmm...Fenway Franks... |
