OK, so Wicki is text (check out the entry on UC, then start the one for RC) and this week's SubAtomic Cafe comic is comics, but they could be the same thing. Hm. Now, jam-art comics have been around for a long time, but it would be a really great idea to put one on the web that anybody could add to at any time, Wicki-style (click a button to upload a panel and it's added to the comic immediately). Better yet, use an applet that will allow limited drawing capability to be done on-line (edit: Check this example. Further edit: That's a Groupboard, for which you can find more information here) and add images to the comic that way as well.

Does this exist already?

I'm not totally sure how I'm meant to react to the stick man Tom comic. I feel like drawing a panel or two of Tom's friends, but I'm not sure if the call for panels is for real. I'll wait till next Friday and see if any further clues arrive.

It has however, along with the Comics Inventions discussion last week sparked off mass mulling on my behalf on the Infinite Canvas, and collaboration.

Through my puny efforts, I have discovered that an Infinite Canvas is indeed a very big thing, so big in fact, that it is very hard to experiment with anything bigger than tiny fractions of its capabilities, and still end up creating something you feel like showing off.

Working collaboratively definitely seems like a smart idea and a solution. It definitely broadens the scope of what is possible in a limited period of time, not to mention all the different skills and viewpoints that collaboration can bring to a project.

Which makes me now wonder, how about us that are interested in the Infinite Canvas, start on collaborative works that can experiment with it? Perhaps in this way, the Infinite Canvas comics drought can be broken..

I've put a fair bit of thought into these thoughts, but not enough that I would want to start beating drums, waving banners, and telling others where to go and what to do. If such a project was to come fruition however, I would be very keen to partake.

Any thoughts?

Lyle

The call for Tom to have friends is real. It is Monday (Happy Holiday) and this is the first that I've been on the computer since Friday. I would like to start adding to stick man and have others add too. I'm thinking about adding a new panel every day, but I'm not sure about that. If anyone would like to submit, feel free.

Later,
Randy
