http://theloop.att.com has a link to download
a Java app that makes it easy to create comix
from digital videos. It combines a video player with a video sampler to make it easy
to find just which video still images are most effective at conveying motion. you can drag&drop images from the sampler (or a still image browser) into the comic editor, where you can edit balloons, text, fonts, panels, borders, scale and process the images, and save the results as XML files for later editing or pdf files for printing or posting.

sounds interesting. I have been thinking of doing some photo comics for a while, and this might be an interesting tool to use for that sort of project...

Did this part of the license agreement for this software bother anyone else?

8. Licensee hereby grants AT&T a non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, worldwide, perpetual license to: (a) reproduce, prepare derivative works based on and distribute all or part of the Adaptations; and (b) make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, license or import any products (including software) or services under any intellectual property rights owned or licensed by Licensee which relate to (i) all or part of the Adaptations, or (ii) methods or concepts embodied in, or implemented through the execution of the Adaptations.

In plain english that says ATT ownes everything you produce with the software and can sell it or make money off it any way they choose.

is that what that means? I interpreted it as meaning that they were talking about the actual software itself, not things made by the soft ware. But then, I have been called an idiot often enough to know that I have no idea what I am talking about......

That's right ... I've seen several of these EULA's with "experimental" software, and they are indeed refering to the Software itself, not the content created with it.

The key is in the term 'Adaptations', to which each clause applies itself to. Media content is not considered an Adaptation. Only the supplied elements (ie. the software) can be 'Adapted', as this is the only element that is supplied by the issuer.

That being said, if you apply this software to your site in an intresting or creative way, they can take the WAY you applied it and use it as they see fit.

Personally, I think I'll give it a miss.
