THE FUTURE OF WEBCOMICS JAM

Post by catgarza »

ok. so here it is. all our hopes. all our dreams. all our half baked ideas. all in a comic's jam format. so, post a panel. no time frame, no nifty gimmicky rule, just pure unbridled thoughtprovoking, myth-shattering, philosophy!

Greg edits to say that: If you don't want to read the thread, you can simply view the images here.

Thanks for starting a non-linear one. I'm raytracing an entry like I did on the 52 card pickup, but with this jam I won't hold up the progression.

number of panels

Post by catgarza »

yeah, i think the format of this particular jam allows for people to add one (or more!) panels without breaking the continuity of the idea put forth in the first panel. although, i can see where panels might play off each other in a sort of "self discussion" or debate!

i'm not gonna post any sort of limit to the number of panels yet, either. let's see how far this goes and how motivated everyone gets. i think this really could be something cool, though!

drew, again, really REALLY nice panel! :)

can't wait to see what's next. i CAN'T post another one till more of you post, so get cracking!! ;)

Thanks!

But... I can't see Dan's panel... all I see is a Tripod logo. Is that just me?

No, that's Tripod. You get a lot less than you pay for when you use 'free' webhosts.

I hope Dan doesn't mind:

I would love if it happened also, perhaps modern tales is a step in the right direction. Maybe a whole bunch of online comic artist should just get drunk together and figure it out. or maybe I am just to drunk right now.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you don't mind me adding to the mix :)

I couldn't resist jumping in on this Comic Jam. I missed out on the Card one because I was so busy, but made sure I kept my eyes peeled for the next sweet one.

Great subject, Cat! You're always a visionary.

Hey! You're not allowed to post if you're not updating your webcomic!

Just kidding... neat that you used a background from your comic. Very nice work.

what the?!

Post by catgarza »

wow. i don't know what to say... ;) but you mispelled "quality".. was that on purpose?

nice panel, jim! i LOVE anime style... and you have a VERY nice site as well. your work is gorgeous. are you rendering your backgrounds with a 3D program then superimposing the drawings? nice.

I would like to say quality was misspelled on purpose, but it was not. I am horrible at spelling and spell check usually saves me, but not this time. That?s what I get for staying up late.

Cat, how do you set up the art for PhotoShop? Do you draw the foreground and background separately? I drew it as one piece then separated it in layers.

I don't know how Cat does it, but it certainly sounds like you've chosen the hard way to do it- Photoshop is made to work with layers, so if it were me, I'd be drawing the backgrounds and characters as separate layers. Though I draw 'n scan, I make as much use of layers when shading and/or coloring as I can.
Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba.
