The Sun rays were done in Illustrator, then imported into Photoshop. The faded colors beneath it were radial blends (the gradient tool).

I sympathize, I really do... Just a few more and we'll be done.

Giant Cosmic Super-Colossal Universally Beloved etc.

No one can hate Monkey Town any more, because the Harmony Monkey is by definition universally beloved. It's like the ontological proof of the existence of God.

Sweet Monkey Jesus!

Wow, Monkey Town just went Taoist. That's a bit of a twist. 8)

...

(That's a joke, son. Think yin-yang, if ya catch ma drift. I tell ya the boy's 'bout as smart as a bag o' hammers.)

You know, although it's taken a while to get here, I must say if you read the comic from beginning to (close to) end it's awful, damn funny.

So Can I just say how much scott McCloud rules? My friend Jeremy Introduced me to the wonderful world of scott in this Post Modern Comic books class he taught at my college, and now I read morning improv whenever I get bad news. Taste in music, sense of humor, deep significant thought, is there nothing this man cannot do!?

Monkey Town is finally finished!

Thank you all for sitting this one out with such good humor and patience.

Just one more Improv before I go on Summer Break. (Check the "GOING ON VACATION!" Thread for more details.)

Damn, what a great ending...! Here I thought this one was gonna be the worse one of the bunch, but once again Scott manages to pull off an amazing piece of comics art. It just constantly amazes me how his "excercises" are 10 times better than most preplanned fully-written comics.

And am I the only one with no social life or did anyone else try to recite outloud the "Yes, it is I,...etc" and the following panel without messing up? I finally did it around the 6th try. If you say it enough times continuously, it almost feels like a mantra. I can imagine reciting this continuously for days in a Buddhist temple in Korea until I reached a higher plane of Monkey existance. Seriously, try it, it's very soothing. C'mon you can go out with your girlfriend ANY night!

Does that ending qualify as a deus ex machina? Did I predict, or even influence, the ending of a MI?

I went to the library last week and was going to check out a book by Scott. They only had one copy, and they didn't have it--it showed up in the computer catalog as 'lost'. Apparently someone liked the book so much that they stole it.
