I'm downright surprised that no one has brought up the idea of a Spider Monkey yet.

Iron Monkey

Post by Chris Wright »

I'm surprised that nobody actually mentioned that Iron Monkey was the name of a movie made around the 50's featuring a Shaolin Monkey Fist adept who killed the Chings. He called himself Iron Monkey.

"I'm not a madman...I'm iron." Then the speaker fell down as if he was a pillow made of iron.

Mr. McCloud, I'm wondering what sort of attack Popular Monkey will have. I'm imagining things, "COOL" and "STYLE" and that sort of thing, though they're not wonderful. You probably have something much better. If you don't, it's the Death of the Thousand Itches, unless it turns out to be funny.

Iron Monkey will probably continue on the heavy theme. Either that, or he'll be a blacksmith and blademaster. Or something.

Spider Monkey vs. the Green Gibbon?

Well, we all already have Monkey Green , so that might cause some confusion.

Of course, we all know that Spider Monkey is, in reality, is Peter Primate.

Monkey vs Monkey

Post by jazon »

At this point in the strip, one might be able to figure which member of the MonkeyTeam will fight against Monkey Head's Mind Slave SuperTeam

Such as:

Monkey Giant vs Big Fat Monkey
Cowboy Monkey vs Monkey Black Hat
Super Professor Monkey vs Evil Genius Monkey
Monkey Gun-Boy vs Monkey Capone

(assuming that similar powers will battle each other ).

Other pairings?

Popular Monkey FASHION attack!! (But I'm not sure if I'll use it).

Not bad, but wouldn't Monkey Green most appropriately fight... Monkey RED?

I'd be interested in knowing how much you've planned this one. Not digging ourselves into a monkey comics hole are we?

Wow, I didn't notice Monkey Red's name at all. Noticed only the "Flame Attack" part...

Iron Monkey

Interesting choice, Scott, to go with the all gold, bulky Iron Monkey armor of the Kirby-Ditko era, rather the later, sleeker red and gold of the Gene Colan era.

I usually have a vague idea where a given comic is going in the next few panels at any given time.

I'm getting a huge kick out of Monkey Town. It is so over-the-top that I can't stop laughing!

:D

On the other hand, I'm beginning to have daydreams about creating the official Monkey Town Role Playing Game. This may be an indication of approaching senility.

Is it just me, or would anyone else get a kick out of seeing this, as a parody of superhero RPGs? And Scott, would you sanction such a thing?

Or should I just go take a couple of aspirin and lie down for awhile?

Gorillas get a +2 bonus on Strength rolls, while Chimps get a bonus on their Intelligence rolls. Yeah, I can see it all now. Call it something like Baboons and Bananas.

Man, would that ever be a great game, if I had enough money and it was a real game, I would buy about 4 or 5 copys of it and have a huge money/ape/chimpanzee brawl... that would be so cool.

Pairings

Post by David Goldfarb »

It's pretty clear that there's meant to be a one-to-one correspondence between the two superteams.

Some of them are obvious:
Super Professor Monkey - Evil Genius Monkey
Monkey Green - Monkey Red
Cowboy Monkey - Black Hat Monkey
Monkey Giant - Big Fat Monkey

Others are a little more stretched, but pretty clear:
Monkey A - Monkey X
Popular Monkey - Monkey Bad Boy

Others are more dubious:
Howling Monkey - Rotten Stinking Monkey (both annoying)
Robot President Monkey - Monkey Capone (government vs. criminal)
Monkey Gun-Boy - Space Alien Monkey (both have guns)

And then there is pure process of elimination:
Iron Monkey - Monkeysaur
Flaming Tail Monkey - Monkey Caveman

Anyone agree or disagree with these?

I agree. This sounds like a cool battle plan. However, I think that this one may surpass the coolness of Marvel vs. DC (that doesn't say too much).

I wonder when there will be a cross-over between the Marvel Universe, The DC universe, and the Monkey Town Universe!

(Finally a collector's item for the DC fans, the Marvel Fans and the online comics fans! Might be the best secure business plan in comics since the creation of Batman!) :D

monkey business!

If Super Professor Monkey teamed up with Popular Monkey, wouldn't they have a Popular Science Attack?

...and I think I know who Monkey X is.

I assume you are referring to none other than Lance Link, Secret Chimp! Now that you point it out, it seems obvious.

I am thoroughly enjoying this comic. I can't wait to see what happens to our heroes (and villians) next.
