I decided to try something completely different this week. It actually only took me three quarters of an hour, but I was hungry, and in a hurry of breakfast.

Bill - Funny. Did you do that with Flash? I messed around with some animation stuff, but I haven't uploaded it yet.

BlackDahlia - Welcome aboard!! Great first one-hour comic! How did your report go? Maybe you could post it online?

I have been down with a flu recently, so I haven't done anything for the past couple of weeks. Sorry. And last week, I spent the whole weekend trying to figure out how to work with some new graphic software... Anyhow, I hope to get back into a regular cycle next week.

I didn't use Flash, though I would like to learn how. I used Fireworks, and saved my work as an animated gif. It allows you to construct a series of frames, and then set the time from one frame to the next. This was a first run. I would like to do something a little more interesting with it when I have the time.

ok, this one took waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over an hour. I don't even know how long it took. I normally wouldn't post this here as an hour comic, but I don't think I'll be able to get to a one hour comic this week, and I haven't put one up for a while so I thought this might be good to post.

I am still battling with this darn flu or whatever it is. I got better once, and then it hit me again yesterday. It isn't that bad, but I sometimes I have to go lie down so I can't keep any promises to draw anything at a certain time.

Anyhow, today I felt relatively good so I decided to see what kind of comic book page I could do on Flash. I drew the entire thing on Flash, from start to finish.

Ok, thanks for looking. I can't wait to see other people's one hours on Monday.

I managed another one today, but I had to work on it in fits and starts. I think I will have to go back later this week and add a few pages to round it off.

cute!

Is that the first time you saved your files in png format? I don't remember seeing png files on your site before...

Ok, I found a really cool aplication of Flash that I hope to be using lots more of in the future. You can do just like they do at the Marvel online "dotcomics" and animate your panels to enlarge when you click on them. It is sooooo cool! I converted the comic page I posted a couple of days ago. You can see it at:

http://www.gazorenzoku.com/comic_test_enlarge.html

The Marvel "dotcomics" takes bitmap images done in Photoshop and applies this animation technique in Flash (according to the guy who put the Flash together for the site, johnnystorm, who has been known to frequent this forum from time to time). That is their only option I guess, since they have to make the original pages in Photoshop to get all the fancy lens flairs and shading that they want.

Anyhow, I did the entire thing with Flash, so while there are no fancy lens flairs and gradation shading, the image quality stays the same at any size. Check it out! (the comic itself was just made to service the experimenting in Flash. I'll put out better stuff later)

For some reason I can't see that one Gaz. I think the file may be missing.

I just finished my latest one hour. Another experiment. This one is called "Puppy Pete" (though I don't know why) : )

it's the latest Sunday on this list

* Still working on wrapping up J-Fist and getting Space Pants ready.

Hey there people, I have been away for what seems like years, but only about a month. I had a temp job where I had to work 10 hour days, 7 days a week. The assignment is over, yet I am still too burned out to actualy draw a comic yet. I am egar to get back into the grove of things and will start creating again (although it would be nice to get a tablet for christmas). So what did I miss ... *Dave reads for an hour*

Ben, I really enjoy your art and your stories. Everytime you post something it seems to be a real sugcess. Although it comes to the most recent one where I start wondering. It reminds me of Scott McCloud's "Robots Love to Dance" ... and we all remember the debate that followed that one.

Welcome BlackDahlia. I liked your one-hour comic. I wonder what kind of story you could come up with if you spent more time on your work. These one-hour things are fun, creative, and a good exersize to keep yourself to keep drawing. I see some potensal in your work, but it hard to tell with the rushed feel to it. Keep up the good work! I wonder, do you have anything else posted online?

Vince, I love your "Back from the dead" comics. I looked at both versions (flash and regular) and I just think the flash version is better with the zooming and the stylized box. It adds a simple interaction between the reader and the artist that most web comics do not have ... yet without making it too complicated. Bravo! Let us see more! :)

Bill, what can I say that I have not already before? As you know I love your work as it also inspires me. "Mad Maud" didn't do much for me, although "Never Been Done" has this beautifull artistic aspect it, yet with this almost stickman simplisticity to it. "Rocket" is pure fun. I love the "oops" at the end. "Puppy Pete" is great, yet I have to wonder if you have been reading too much Drew Weing. ;P

Well I guess I should do something myself soon. See you guys around!

Wow! Pretty cool Gaz! I want Flash now. Have to wait and see what Santa brings though (I suspect it won't be Flash, but I put it in my letter anyway).

I suck. I couldn't do one yesterday because I am still trying to finish up J-Fist, which isdown to it's last 8 panels (if only Keen would update). I am looking forward to getting on with some new projects after new years.

Thanks for the complement, losttoy! :D I haven't posted anything else of the comic persuasion yet, although I am currently rough-drafting a full-blown comic. It doesn't have a title yet, but it's a sort of mixture of Greco-Roman mythology and western fantasy epic.
A few things in it worth mentioning at present is that the Erinyes (Furies) will be apart of the circle of main characters, particularly Alecto, the 'leader' of the Erinyes. The Erinyes were originally all female in classical mythology, but in my comic Alecto is male. Ok, explanation: Alecto means 'Unceasing in Anger' and the running inside joke throughout the comic is the fact that the foolish mortals STILL consider him to be a woman, and that being the reason why he's always angry. ;)

Sounds like it could be quite funny BD. I'm looking forward to it.

I am still in the midst of finishing up Japanimation Fist, so I didn't do a one hour comic today, but I did put together a short trailer for my next big project: Space Pants.

You can check it out here: http://www.dunktank.ca/sptrailer.gif

If I'm not back on the boards between now and then, I hope you all have a good holiday!

I will also be working on some stuff, and will be too busy to promise a one hour every week for a while. It's been a lot of fun, and I hope to put more up whenever I can, but other projects are slowly crowding in...

My new goal is to get published in some form within 3 months. Wish me luck...

I look forward to seeing one hour comics from anyone who is still posting!

I'm Baaaack!!! Although I don't know that this actually qualifies as a one hour comic, I did spend an hour on it (in and amongst poking around on this and other forums to plug my new comic thingy). Have a look though: I think you may be seeing more of this little girl.
