Internet Comics Business Essay

Post by Ray Radlein »

It was listed on Slashdot, so I imagine that many folks will have already read it (or at least heard of it), but Todd Allen, over at Indignant Online, has posted a nice little "white paper" on different business models for comics on the internet.

The essay mainly concentrates on publishers of paper comics, and how they use (or fail to use) the internet as part of their business model, but it does also devote a fair amount of attention to both internet-only aggregators such as Modern Tales and Keenspot, as well as some independent internet offerings. It's mostly nothing new to anyone who has been following comics on the internet for a while, but it is certainly a reasonable overview of the issue, with a few interesting nuggets of new information included.

Thanks for the link. It's pretty interesting. But he doesn't mention Plan Nine which specialises in printed collections of webcomics including several of the Keenspot strips.
