A webcomic that's pretty close to my heart: Thomas K Dye's Newshounds. Funny, imaginative and artistic, with strong characters and a topical - satirical streak. TKD is passionately devoted to the strip and is working hard to develop it further, so I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen over the next few years.
TKD's also been drawing a more sombre spinoff comic, Manifestations, in Keenspot's paying-customer Premium section, but the the demands of the main strip and his office day-job are forcing him to shelve it for the indefinite future. It's a serious pity since the comic's dark and interesting, following a couple of minor Newshounds characters into a grimmer, stranger storyline. I can't help but hope that he'll eventually have the chance to finish it.
There are a lot of brilliant strips in Keenspot (try Melonpool, Clan of the Cats, Bruno the Bandit for starters) but I'm particularly haunted by TKD and his dedication to Newshounds. For this guy's sake alone I really, really hope that webcomics can become a paying proposition for their creators.

I'll keep this for my fanboy ravings, rather than scattering them wildly abroad.
The Mousekaroos by Sarah Davis. The first version of this was forced offline by webhosting hassle, and SD's taking the chance to redraw and rescript it from the start. From the first pages, and from my memories of the original, it's going to be something wonderful. SD's self-publishing it as good-quality comicbooks too.

TKD's still drawing Newshounds himself, and it's getting pretty interesting.
