Once again:

As you can see, after last week's experiment in pure Zwol, Kate's returned to the narrative and the comic's update schedule has also resumed its normal schedule. I'll be sorting out the archives just as soon as I figure out the best way to display last week's comic, but for now you can view it in chunks from Monday to Friday or all at once as Saturday's comic.

Those who are interested in such things might note that the order of the first two panels of Friday's comic differs from the order I used them in the complete version. This is becase if you were to read it serially, the information works better when presented in a certain order, but when put together it looks better the other way.

Also, I'm setting up a new discussion forum which you are invited to test out. The old forum is still there, but I expect to be fully relocated to the new forum by the end of this week.

The Whole Story:

And here you go- for Saturday, you get this week's whole comic all at once. I hope you (some of you anyhow) liked the 'rolling comic' experiment this week. If you didn't like it- back to normal for a while! See you Monday.

How things go:

There's a link above the current comic to the beginning of the current storyline. Since the purpose of this link is to allow new readers to easily catch up with the story already in progress, does it make sense for the link to point to a comic from January? I keep wanting to update this link to a more current date, but with the plot going the way it has been, almost every later date seems to be in the middle of things. It might be that I'm just too close to the subject to know. At any rate, the point will soon be moot, as next week I'm going to kill all the characters and reboot the comic. (Yes, that is just a sick joke.)

Steven Grant's Master Of The Obvious column this week is excellent.

On a somewhat related note, Ian Shoales (anybody remember him from Duck's Breath Homemade Radio?) has a few thoughts on the Great Internet Advertising Collapse.

The NEW New Adventures:

Last week I was sent a picture by Randy Oest (of the SubAtomic Cafe) that was inspired by this week's "New Adventures of Kate." While this surprised and pleased me to no end, it also make me think that here was an even larger idea: I'd like to see "The New Adventures of Kate" as interpreted by the Zwol readership!

So- I'm asking you- yes, you!- to make me a picture that features your own version of a possible New Adventure for our heroine, and when I get enough, I'll post 'em all. The same submission policies as the No Contest apply, except that this picture must feature Kate in some unusual setting and/or situation- the more pretentious and obscure, the better!

Oh- this also differs from the No Contest in that I'm going to give an original drawing to every person who sends me a picture. See, you send me a "New Adventure" interpretation, then I'll re-interpret your picture to run as a future Zwol strip and send you the original drawing that I did based on your drawing. Make sense? OK- Go!

A long comic this week:

In case you haven't noticed little notice above the comic today and haven't already gone to read about it, then you may be confused as to what's going on this week. The short version is that this is an experiment in posting a long-ish comic slowly over the course of the entire week. Barring technical difficulties, there will be a new panel posted every 6 hours between midnight on Monday morning and 6pm on Friday evening. Like it? Hate it? Discuss it.
