The "Be My Monster" Contest

There's nothing about it on the site, as of yet, so you'll be the first to hear the news. I will be launching a contest on Monster Hollow next week, looking for someone to be my monster (for one week at least). In case you have't had reason to read it yet, Monster Hollow is some sort of bizarrely mi...

What the flim flam is this anyway?

I've been trying to figure out whether what I've been doing actually qualifies as webcomics, or whether I am doing some sort of twisted, digital story-books for the mildly insane. You be the judge.

And that's only the first week. We've got one feature, a major interview, and several more reviews every week this month, and from what I can tell from next month's assignments you can expect more of the same.

My interview with Cat goes up next wekk. Cat Rocks.

Have a look at Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. He lists dozens of early examples which would probably fit the bill.

Comic and journalism have had a long and rather close relationship, I think. Though the idea of the comic-documentary is relatively new editorial cartoons have been around for quite some time. The two have fed off of one another over the years. As far as using comics in more of a first-person docume...

I'm Baaaack!!! Although I don't know that this actually qualifies as a one hour comic, I did spend an hour on it (in and amongst poking around on this and other forums to plug my new comic thingy). Have a look though: I think you may be seeing more of this little girl.

The "immortal one hour comic jam" is likely to revisted some time soon, if people are keen. I for one just got busy as Tim said, and haven't visited as often. I think that web communities like this one have a tendency to work much like circles of friends in the real world: we meet, we do stuff, we g...

Sounds like it could be quite funny BD. I'm looking forward to it. I am still in the midst of finishing up Japanimation Fist, so I didn't do a one hour comic today, but I did put together a short trailer for my next big project: Space Pants. You can check it out here: http://www.dunktank.ca/sptraile...

Wow! Pretty cool Gaz! I want Flash now. Have to wait and see what Santa brings though (I suspect it won't be Flash, but I put it in my letter anyway). I suck. I couldn't do one yesterday because I am still trying to finish up J-Fist, which isdown to it's last 8 panels (if only Keen would update). I ...

Not having either one of those programs I have been working with Fireworks and Freehand, and making use of a wacom tablet that I love very much. I really like the prgrams I am using now, but I must admit I find Flash pretty intriguing. What's it run for?

That was why I took up the whole teaching gig in the first place. I had grand visions of teaching during the day and writing cutting edge poems and stories by night. What a load of hooey. The truth of it is that teaching really sucks you dry on an emotional level most days. I liked it, but I had ver...

They are. I think I need to review my reasons, and give myself a kick in the pants. I have at least two different comics on the go right now, and I really enjoy doing what I do, but I have been letting myself get bogged down in some sort of ennui. At first I thought it was the Fall, but I think it h...

I just finished my latest one hour. Another experiment. This one is called "Puppy Pete" (though I don't know why) : )

it's the latest Sunday on this list

* Still working on wrapping up J-Fist and getting Space Pants ready.

I just thought I would mention that I've done a bit of a re-design on the site, and I am gearing up to move my efforts from my Keen comic, to some of the other stuff I have been putting a hold on at Dunktank. There should be lots on its way soon :)

I didn't use Flash, though I would like to learn how. I used Fireworks, and saved my work as an animated gif. It allows you to construct a series of frames, and then set the time from one frame to the next. This was a first run. I would like to do something a little more interesting with it when I h...

While we've got your attention Cat, I was wondering if there are other things (issues of MI, etc.) that you may have laying around that you might want to sell. I think that largely because of how far away I am from where you are I haven't come across anything (the nearest comic shop is a hundred mil...
