We're deep in Gollum territory now. (Jackson's Gollum, specifically.)

Do you think the next panel will be "Leave now and never come back"? :)

So Susan is no one. That works too...

So, is there a fish dinner in our brimley's future?

There's a lot of that brain-farting going around, it seems. What I meant to say was, Shrimp? She means Bernice, right? That was Bernice, calling poor Susan "shrimp". Scott's really pulling all the stops to make us sympathize with Susan, isn't he? And it's working (at least for me!) HA. Eat it , Step...

Shrimp? She means Bernice, right? That was Bernice, calling poor Cathy "shrimp". Scott's really pulling all the stops to make us sympathize with Cathy, isn't he? And it's working (at least for me!) HA. Eat it , Stephen. Ah, let em alone. He was okay. He was probably distracted with covertly staring...

OK, I'm now hoping that Bernice isn't a walrus... sorry, a brimley. Our poor unnoticed fellow deserves better than her.

Maybe Susan will abandon her hopeless crush on Stuart and notice our brimley!

Or not. Well, it was a nice thought.

...the Walrus: Sky's version!

Isn't it great? And it's come to a conclusion much quicker than Scott's has!

(And apparently cats are afraid of walruses. Who knew?)

Who wants to see Sky's version of "Monkey Town" or "Robots Love to Dance"? I know I do! :D

The Commack Motor Inn... oh, my!

And what is that that Gus is holding? It looks like a frightened, pink, pencil-necked stuffed dog. What do they do in this office?

Wait -- it's not Bernice! It's Susan! My Bernice-is-a-walrus-too theory lives on!

YA-HOO!!

Well, some days you have to get your jollies where you can.

Hey! Jacques Cousteau! Cool!

Wait a minute... isn't he dead?

Meanwhile, is that Bernice we're seeing dashing the walrus' hopes yet again? So much for my Bernice-as-walrus theory. :(

I have a new theory: Bernice, the unseen receptionist is (wait for it...) also a walrus! In fact, our mild-mannered and unnnoticed protagonist is patiently waiting for his lady-friend Bernice to get off work, so he can take her out for a romantic evening's fishing (or whatever walruses do on dates)....

Ned Lem: Lucky or Pitiable?

So, the last Morning Improv for a while goes to one Ned Lem, a gentleman apparently in need of a few syllables. I'm not sure whether to envy him for having had his entry chosen, or laugh at the one that Scott did choose. Hands up: how many of you have (like me) submitted dozens of entries, hoping to...

Giant Cosmic Super-Colossal Universally Beloved etc.

No one can hate Monkey Town any more, because the Harmony Monkey is by definition universally beloved. It's like the ontological proof of the existence of God.

With no explicit gender information given I would be willing to bet that Scott intends and we are all reading the circle as the female. I wonder if shape alone would suffice to communicate gender. Just thinking: What else might be tipping our interpretation? 1 Who is the subject and who is the obje...

Perhaps the satire just went over my head. I was only 15 when I read it. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
