Actually no, you can do exactly that with it. Demian 5's comic works that way on the actual iPod itself, but they couldn't figure out an easy way to show it doing that on the fake preview iPod on their website. The software supports a whole mess of different transitions - I'm looking forward to play...

Webcomics in bath / up tree.
Ha! http://www.clickwheel.net/ Ha, I say! The timing of this opportunity was odd, as during the next year I'd already planned to be doing some research into narrative on mobile devices for my Uni (hopefully - still waiting on the research bid to go through). Brain Fist is written to work on the web,...

Indeed! Wanted to post here on Friday before I went AWOL for the weekend, but my day got jam-packed and I didn't get the chance. The Tarquin Engine is now available for purchase here: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/tarquin (I saw 'now' - the server seems to be down at the moment. I'm sure it'll be b...

No word yet - we remain in a state of "very close" to release. I'm basically waiting on Joey to launch Webcomics Nation, which I'm going to use to provide the tools for selling subscriptions to a site where you can download the engine. Webcomics Nation should hopefully be appearing quite soon, so fi...

New print comic at E-merl - The Girl Who Talked
Finished my latest print comic last week and it's now up for sale in the shop over at E-merl: The Girl Who Talked http://e-merl.com/shop.htm This one's another trip into Unfolded Earth territory, this time taking a peek into the lives of three people who are each coming to terms with their own uniqu...

I guess we'll kind of have to wait and see how things shake out over time. I think the Engine's main problem from a popularity front, is that it's really doesn't ...

New Tarquin Comic - 24:Three
I went 24 Hour Comicing at the weekend, resulting in this: http://e-merl.com/24three.htm Tarquin watchers should note that I used what I think is very likely to be the final release version of the Engine. The most notable visible change since the last version is support for a variety of different pa...

Huh - okay, turns out there are a bunch of people selling FLAs. Useful info, thanks for that Tim. Maybe selling the engine as an FLA is more of a possibility than I originally thought. I did consider some kind of per-comic fee or per-income fee (making the engine free to those people who aren't earn...

Like I say above, you're going to need some Flash knowledge to work with this thing, and I don't want people buying it and then discovering they don't actu...

Help me figure out how to make The Tarquin Engine available.
The following comes from the introduction to the user instructions I'm currently writing for the Tarquin Engine: What is the Tarquin Engine? The Tarquin Engine is a tool for the creation and delivery of zooming infinite canvas webcomics. In it?s current form it exists as a series of Action Script ro...

The actual model I used was of a man wearing trousers but no shirt, which is what gives the character his slightly odd silhoutte ...

A different kind of zooming hypercomic: The Formalist
An idea I've wanted to do something with for a while and have now finally got round to finishing: http://e-merl.com/form.htm (The artwork for the Queen of Clubs - from the playing card jam that I did ages back - was originally intended for use in something similar). The inspiration for the subject m...

Sorry it's taken me an age to reply to this thread - I suck. Shadow - it sounds like what you've come up with is pretty much it's own thing, so feel free to spread it around without my say so. This is a bit beyond my level of understanding but, if you figure out a way of doing it, it sounds like a handy idea. The problem from the engine's point of view would be that the images would absolutely need to be purely raster based when the comic is actually being read - rasters resize quickly an...

Oddly enough, I have been planning to run a jam comic using Tarquin at E-merl.
