True, but technical writing does not require dialogue, characterization, or plot development. It's not all marketing, but some of it can be. Marketing is more creative (I ought to know, I write jingles for fun). However, it is typically short and does not build the skills necessary for a total chara...

Poll: Just who is everyone? Answer, or I will devour your..

Soul... mwahahaha! Just kidding. Here, we have a poll, and a related . Individual answers should depend on your tax records and what you list as your primary/secondary occupation. If you earn enough from both to list both art and writing. Note: Technical Writing is technically a different field (it ...

Editing: What are you worth? What is someone willing to pay? It's called supply and demand. There is a minimum(called minimum wage), but beyond that, no guarantee's in life. Just yesterday I saw the former CEO of a company in the dollar store talking about how he wasn't going to work for minimum wag...

Not always correct.

You'd be surprised. And you're forgetting that not everyone has to pay for the internet on their own, many people split the bills. I pay about $10 a month for internet. My budget basically breaks down to food, rent, and like many people I'm living month to month. In fact, I can't even guarantee to t...

XKCD

http://xkcd.com/1102/ Fastest-growing. Sorry, but I just can't resist. I love that comic. It's about a days worth of work to make a comic. Having it only seen for a day... yeah... not really worth it. Might want to set a cap of bi-weekly or 3 updates a week. Though, I'm thinking that as it is promot...

There are 2 million employed artists (employed as artists) in this country. Or roughly .66% of the population. Thats 6 artists for every 1000 people. The competition is stiff. Art is generally considered a luxury. Ladydeath, I have seen artists whom I consider AMAZING lamenting about their future an...

You know, there are a lot of obsessive compulsive writers who will probably clean out spam... or at least one. Are the spams in the posts on this forums?

Comics, Economic, and failed success stories.

I've seen many comic artists on this page wanting $40 per page. http://www.jimzub.com/?p=1953 Note: I haven't actually seen anyone hire them... but I've seen a lot of people asking. Actually, based on this 'success' story that's impossible. The author gives speeches, and is invited to talk about his...

You claim you can't find good artwork with terrrible writing... but the truth is that you can't find it... it's lost in the abyss of the internet. There was a man who wrote a comic... it was utter garbage, he wasted 6 weeks of his life for $0(Actually, $17, I think), but the artwork was beautiful......

Oh and ld-airgrafx... does the fact that you have to clean your sprayer multiple times and that it takes you hours in any way increase costs other than labor or decrease sales? The people I know who do airbrushings usually rent themselves out for events where they do tons of airbrushings. In fact, t...

Make an offer. Worst that can happen is he says no. If it won't be over 500 copies, your take on it will be marginally low. I'd probably try for the lower offer and add in 20 copies for his friends and families and 20 to show at con's. Copies benefit both of you.

HA! You just compared the TOTAL number of writers to the number of DECENT artists... leave the math to us math nerds pelase. An artist I know spent 6 weeks doing the worst piece of drek I have ever read in my life. Beautifully illustrated, by the way. He didn't write it though. Sufficed to say, he m...

That's not a lot... For what he made I couldn't even commission that many comics. XD That said, considering the medium and what it costs to get a furry commission his prices were fair for revealing them. (I'm comparing to commissions by furries on amateur sites.) Were I him, I'd throw in sending an ...

Attention all Manga Artists.

The characters are the plot. The 'plot' is irrelevant. Neon Genesis Evangeleon "Okay, so a spastic ninja in an orange jumpsuit with a demon sealed inside of him..." "A demon..." "Uh, huh, and he has to go through ninja school to be a training ninja, but he's really awesomely powerful." "Uh huh..." "...
