Much to my chagrin, I have discovered that the Steve Perry fanfic web site to which I used to direct disbelieving skeptics appears to have gone the way of all flesh (or at least the way of all vanished web sites). On the other hand, there's These Days , a now-abandoned webcomic fanfic about Ian Curt...

You all have my sympathy on this. Even having known all along where this storyline was heading, that strip was still intensely powerful when I read it late last night, just before the bombings in London. This morning, while watching the early coverage on CNN and obsessivly checking the blogs of all ...

The whole foofaraw about "literally" and "figuratively" brings to mind one of the many "Radlein's Law"s I've coined in my time in a cheap bid for fame: Eventually, all adjectives will be used to mean "good" or "bad" (including "good" and "bad" themselves), and all adverbs will be used to mean "very...

Aha! I knew I remembered this thread's existence! Anyway, I figured this was the perfect place to mention another appearance for Fightin' Action Hero McCloud, in the bottom panel of today's episode of Fans! . The setup, for those who don't read Fans! , is that thanks to some untimely meddling with a...

It is resolved thus: Bear eats Ninja. Ninja chops Cowboy. Cowboy shoots Bear. Why can't the Cowboy shoot the Nija? Why can't Nija put one of those cool Chinese stars between the Bear's eyes. Why can't the Bear knock the gun out of the Cowboy's hand and maul him to death? Time to rethink this game. ...

(Which actually suggests a "What Else Does Scott Understand?" illustration of a hardcore rapper named MC Loud) Which, of course, means now you have to do that! It'll have to get in line behind the one I've had in mind riffing on the cover of Elvis Costello's My Aim is True and the song "(What's So ...

It is called "Chibi" or "Super-deformed" (although the first panel here or the middle panel here are probably better examples of the style, in that the characters there are really different than normal).

Irrelevant. My mom doesn't know a thing about any comics artists, but she couldn't pick a recording artist younger than the Beatles out of a lineup Who knows, then -- she might know Eisner. I know that my dad, who certainly doesn't read any comics, knew who Eisner was when he saw the little autogra...

Re: Hershey
Yeah, the Hershey's was a nice touch...I had been wondering what they were drinking. I know from experimence that beer and chocolate don't go well together. So -- no Chocolate Stout for you, then, eh? Shame, really -- there are quite a few good examples available. Many folks find that the chocolate...

Internet Comics Business Essay
It was listed on Slashdot , so I imagine that many folks will have already read it (or at least heard of it), but Todd Allen , over at Indignant Online , has posted a nice little "white paper" on different business models for comics on the internet . The essay mainly concentrates on publishers of p...

Soooooo, have you finished reading "Number 5" yet? I was pretty busy this week, so I haven't finished rereading the first volume yet, but I did get finished with vol. 2. As soon as I finish re-reading vol. 1, and as soon as payday comes around, which might happen at around the same time, I am going...

And, for all "Finder" fans, Carla Speed McNeil is drawing the new story arc for Queen and Country . The first issue of that came out yesterday and even though I've never picked up this series before, I got for CSM's art (and lettering, too), and I'm interested enough in the story to see what happen...

At last year's San Diego con I made a point to go meet Carla Speed McNeil and bought two pages of art form her- one from the Talisman story and the other was a pe...
