Print versus web
Print generally needs the art to be in CMYK format and like the other posters said 300 to 400 is best. If ever you're going to print your book in large format then 400 to 600dpi is preferable. For the web or pdf mock-ups in the old days 72dpi was the norm, but I use 150dpi so that the lettering stil...

UPDATE: A few small requirements added.
Hi all. I got a tremendous response to my post seeking a writer. So to better make a decision I'm adding two requirements. Re: on being a writer
Great topic. I think that great writing doesn't necessarily need artwork to make it great. Look at stories that take form in comics, movies, games that come from the same source. I wholly agree writing is hard. A lot of research (as you're finding out) goes into putting action on a page. You need to...

A friendly word of warning about 'clutch hitter'
His name is Richard Zandi. He doesn't pay his invoices, and doesn't return emails. If you work for him (he also goes by 'clutch hitter') be careful not to do so much where you'll be put out if he quits on you.

Ten, make that eleven things all new writers should NOT do:
1. Begin their story on an EPIC note. Please, no 'from the beginning of all time' or 'vast worlds and entire populations.' It's exhausting to wade through for the reader. 2. The 'shadowy' figure, anyone in silhouette, major players left out of the first issue ('cause there'll be this BIG REVEAL!!). ...

a day's work
It takes about a day to a day-and-a-half to make a page. What do you make in a day Iceclaw? That's the benchmark where you should set the pricing. I get responses from writers all the time saying they've gone with another artist (cheaper) only to wind up getting ripped off when I check back on them ...
