(Weird, it seems my earlier reply never got saved right...) I liked this one a lot. I also thought of Frank Miller in the second part. (Especially that one Sinc City story where the woman intentionally brings guys home so her macho lover can catch them in the act and beat them up.) I don't know if I...

I know I've seen plenty of webcomics done in rough pencil art... hmm. Offhand, I can't think of any that meet your description. (I looked at some more I thought of, but they have computer lettering, or some ink + pencil, etc.)

Oh well, good luck with the quest. :)

If we're just talking about art that is clearly pencil art instead of ink art:

are perhaps some prominent examples, depending on how rough vs cleaned up you mean...

"I believe the system I'm proposing is a simple one to learn and logical to understand. Also, for me, the potential artistic benefits out-weigh the negatives you cite as I think they'll help improve the appreciation of my webcomic." Famous last words... I am confused by the question. Most comics seem to be in a format similar to storyboards, as I understand them...

I had the impression that the law was quite murky on that question of fair use and parody and so forth, and that in the real world it boils down to who has the most money and lawyers. Penny Arcade decided they could not afford to fight a multimillion dollar greeting card company, even though it was ...

24 minutes != 24 panels?

Is the 24 minute bible comic complete with the 5 panels? I was imagining 24 panels for a 24 minute comic. But these would be pretty impressively hard panels to do in just one minute apiece, so I'm guessing now that this is the complete comic...?

You would need high resolution files of all of the images. That seems unlikely to exist for at least several of the images, which were probably created in the resolution that they appeared here (I'm guessing). But that is certainly not an insurmountable obstacle! I'm not sure I believe this is a bo...

Yay 24-minute comics! BTW I just spent about as long wrestling with the cookie and annoying logging out issue as you spent drawing your comic. Hopefully it's working ok again for me now... It might be helpful if the Preview (when posting) showed who the post is being made from (i.e. my username, or ...

how come online new sources that don't print newspapers don't publish webcomics on their sites? I'd hypothesize it's because of bandwidth, text being much more efficient on the web and all. But that is a good question - if there was a clear demand for comics at online news sites, they might start d...

24-minute 24-panel comics!

24-minute comic :)

Inspired by these zany shenanigans, but finding the idea of a 24-hour comic with 24 pages to be a bit daunting, I got the idea to do a 24-minute comic with 24 panels on one page. http://www.kofightclub.com/d/20040426.html Totally stupid results, but surprisingly adrenalin-buzzing, having effectively...

It was pretty cool seeing 40 or 50 people making comics at Austin Books yesterday afternoon. Made me wish I'd paid more attention to this event and planned to participate. But even as an observer it was fascinating to see the unusual weird communal energy in the room, with art supplies, computers, r...

For me it also feels too early to say much about the story, but I am interested to see how it develops, since current politics are interesting to me. I like the art, but I wish all 3 of the first strips didn't have a typo in the text - that leaves me feeling less care went into the text than the art.

Yep.
Greg Stephens wrote:One of the main problems is not really having any idea of what a comic could possibly be about.
Bah, don't let a little thing like that stop you. I often have that problem. Just don't go to bed till you have made a comic. :)

Seeking Wednesday artist for Comicollage

http://comicollage.keenspace.com seeks someone familiar with the comic/characters/archives and with some sort of comicmaking skills/enthusiasm/commitment/silliness to take over the Wednesday slot, since our current Wednesday person has sadly departed. Comicollage is an ongoing daily comic jam with 7...

But wouldn't the idea of "request comics" be a good one? I've considered that maybe sometime I should solicit a week's worth of scripts and draw those. A fun idea, reminiscent of Pathetic Geek Stories at theonion.com's AV club, Slow Wave http://www.slowwave.com/ (and other comics I've seen that dra...

Speaking of Exquisite Corpse and Yves Tanguy (one of the surrealists involved), the Menil Museum in Houston has a terrific exhibit of his art. It's a touring retrospective and I believe Houston is the only city in the US it's hitting. I really enjoyed the exhibit.

Sounds like cool technology. Whether a comic made with it is really a comic is another question. Making the work 3 dimensional seems analogous to the difference between a painting and a sculpture: they're both art, but a sculpture is not a painting. (Then there's the additional paradox of it being r...
