There is a definite amount of stress at my job at the TV station, because the newscasts are going to start at their scheduled times whether I have the graphics ready or not. Some stuff is designed and created far in advance, but late-breaking news stories that need maps or "over-the-shoulder" graphi...

Yes, Vince, I layout and sketch the cartoon with the Wacom pen as well. This is a part of the process where it really benefits me, I feel. In the sketch stage, I can quickly draw out the figures on separate layers, and then move them around and stage the scene, trying different set-ups and picking t...

I produce a single-panel web cartoon called Coffee Spill. My Spills are created entirely on my iMac with a Wacom Graphire tablet and Adobe Photoshop. I'm really comfortable working this way and really like the results. Visit http://www.coffeespill.com and let me know what ya think!

Scott, I really like "Oscar Quill & Coyle". Very unique characters! I'm interested in seeing the eventual results of your experimenting with the software you're using and that which you develop to get it done. You pretty much repeated what I said about tools, whether it being a pencil or a computer,...

I'm curious about what you're discussing here in terms of all-digital production of comics. I see a lot of high-end software being mentioned and I'm a bit confused about the overall goal. It sounds to me like you're trying to find a way to avoid actually drawing the art, to get really expensive soft...

This has been a fascinating discussion. This weekend I reformatted my site so that all of my cartoons now open in the same browser window, since everyone seems to universally agree that's the best way to do it. I also had complaints from other viewers that my pages were too big and they had to scrol...

Max, thank you for your most excellent comments and suggestions! I plan on doing some multi-panel Coffee Spills in the near future. I don't have any actual comic book style projects going right now. I used to do a lot of that in my much younger days, but now I'm really into the single panel format. ...

Hello. This is my first post at this board. Interesting stuff here! I use a Wacom Graphire tablet and Photoshop 5.5 to create my "Coffee Spill" panels. No paper, no scanning. I just work in layers and build up the color until it's the way I like it and I can then present it to the world who will the...
