I've just posted a photo of the comic in the early stages of drawing. I don't know how other people construct their drawings, but this is how I do it. At this stage, I already know what the dialoge is, roughly, so I've planned what I think is appropriate empty space for the speech bubbles to occupy later. I don't always make preliminary sketches like the previous example, so often at this stage, the lettering will already be roughed-in.
