Threads...what are they?, and how are they used?

that's basically it..I keep picking up on the mention of threads,and what the readers are getting from them. thanx, Tim

Threads are these two texts (yours and mine). Together they form ONE thread.

Every thread has a topic.

(the subject of he first "post")

Everything that is published in a thread is "posted" and thus called a "post"

Yingo's got it. "Threads" are also called "Topics" on various message boards, but "thread" is a more geeky term.
