Hi! This is my first message posted here. I don't know if you look kindly on 'hype,' but I wanted to tell everybody about my new website and my graphic novel, Rapid Eye Movement, which will be presented in 8 parts weekly in November and December 2001.

Anyway, the website is http://amazingmontage.tripod.com/trespassers

I think that "Hype" was David Bowie's most underrated band after "Tin Machine", of course (which never got the respect it deserved).
Good morning! That's a nice tnetennba.

Looks fantastic, Joe! Your new 3D-rendered style is uncanny...it looks as if your black and white paper comics suddenly got lush and rounded...but it's still the same distinct style, right down the the noirish shadows. Look forward to reading it and I hope you have a chance to finish DILEMMA...

p.s.--Greg, think we might be able to set up a separate forum for "shameless plugs" or "new projects"...sort of an announcement forum? I think we might have had this conversation before...

Actually, for those of us writing the shameless plugs, it's better to be mixed in with other topics. We're more likely to get noticed!

I will try to be back to actually discuss something. Unfortunately I've trapped myself in a series of daunting deadlines by putting this thing out in serialized form.

Well, if that's the way it's going to be on shameless plugs, I'll cannonball in the community pool as well.

Heh. And it only took over 7 months for that to actually make it online...

Enjoy,

Great style on that strip, Jason! Liked the 'frame' that makes it look like a minicomic, too. Terrific use of a 2nd color as well.

Keep it up! And please remember that smoking causes lung cancer!:)

Thanks, Joe! And trust me: I'm about as anti-smoking as it gets. (I assume you're commenting on the forum discussion...) Ironically, there are NO cigarettes in the strip (to my knowledge), yet all the folks on the messageboard seem to think smoking's "indie."

To each their own.

jason

p.s.--the use of color is ripped off from Jordan Crane's strips at highwaterbooks.com...

p.p.s.--thanks for the linkage, Greg!!

I agree with you on the "smoking = bad" thing, in fact I tackle the concepts of smoking and indieness in this strip, but you can't stop the smoking by stamping out pro-smoking messages where ever they appear. You have to engineer a new miracle plant that grows usefull plastics or something, and then the farmers will grow that instead of tobacco because it's more profitable. When working with drug-based economic systems, you have to remember that supply can create demand.

Wow, very nice experimental work, Jack! Funny take on the smoking 'indie' guy!
