Folks-- Before I did my graphic novel Rapid Eye Movement (now completed, by the way) I experimented with an infinite canvas comic titled Dilemma. After realizing how long it would take me to complete a comic in this style, and resigning myself to the clunky, slow loading time of most browsers, I put the project to one side.

I decided to post it to my website recently so people could take a look. I do think this a promising format that many online comics in the future will adopt.

Thanks, folks! REM, aka 'Rapid Eye Movement,' is an online graphic novel at http://amazingmontage.tripod.com/trespassers .

Gaz, I checked out your site-- some really bold, experimental work you're doing. Your main feature strip started out kind of weak, but kept getting better and better, and by the end was really outstanding! Talk about infinite canvas!

Your stuff loads pretty fast. However, you might want to check out the slices technique, which I did using Image Ready (a part of Photoshop.) With slices, you could take a lot of the white areas in your image and define them as 'no image;' this would cause them to fill in as soon as the html for the page loaded. You might be able to cut your total load time in half, considering how much white space you use.

I looked at it and thought it looked great.

Which software did you use to render the figures?
