thanks for the reply. Yeah, I am getting a lot better with Photoshop, I suppose, and also more confident with the infinite canvas and the possibilities that it presents (though I still haven't really made use of most of those possibilities yet, but what I mean is that I am slowly starting to break out of the 8 and a half by 11 inch page mode...)
Was the stuff in the begining hard on the eyes? If so, how?
THanks again for looking!! I've got lots more planed, and even some of it inked and ready to be colored, but most of it will have to wait until after this upcoming art exhibit that I am preparing for...

hm. I think so. a bit. hard to say why. I think it's the colors. you're using a very broad scala of colors in the first chapter, and all are used together on a relatively small part of the page. That, combined with the fact that the background is black makes the colors very loud. Was the stuff in the begining hard on the eyes? If so, how?
though it worked well enough in the 'coverart' (first picture?)
Your drawing style is pretty sharp too, though that's actually a good thing.
But I think that, combined with the colors, it was just too much. you're quieting down now though. more space to bearth.
yeah, I think that's it. its all just a bit too much in the first chapter.
*sigh* well, that's my opinion anyway.

Thanks for the more detailed comments. Maybe the white background is better than black...
If the beginning is not accessable to the common viewer, then no matter how accessable the art gets later, there won't be many people dropping by to see what happens...
In this case it seems to me that the main issue is accessibility. Whether the art is "good" (in terms of lots of practice and creativity going into the product) or not doesn't really matter if the end product is not accessible, or hard on the eyes. Screen display is also something to take into account. What works on the page may be too loud on the screen.
You have given me a lot to think about. I won't be able to make any changes right away, since I am pretty busy at the moment, but I might consider some revisions later.
If anyone else has any opinions, I would love to hear them.
