Wow, it was a year and four months ago when I last posted here about starting a group ... I guess it just took that long.

Yesterday was the first meeting of the MI Web Comics group. Not really a group, as a gathering of minds and artistic conversation. Although there are various ideas of what will become of the group, right now we are keeping it open ended and seeeing what happens.

Attending yesterday's gathering was Tim Mallos, Sydney Ano (a Your Comic Here artist), Eric Wilmoth (Archetypal Images). Eric Millikin (FetusX), Matt Feazell (Cynicalman), Suzanne Baumann (Fridge-Mag), Sean Bieri (a mini-comic creator), Mike Carroll (who I just met and I am not sure what he does) and myself. Hmm, just my estimate at 9 people.

More are welcome. We are meeting the first Saturday of every month in Brighton, Michigan. I am in process of creating a web site and forum for our group. More info to come.

Thanks to Tim for everything he has and will contribute to this project.

Wow. That's great. Wish I could be a part of that.

But hey, what about APE (Alternative Press Expo)? Anyone from the group going this year? Or anyone from the ZWOL forum in general? I'll be there! I can't believe I'm going... all the way from Japan. It's like some strange dream.

Yeah, so I heard that there will be name tags, so I will definitely find space to write "gazorenzoku" on mine somewhere around my real name. When I first started posting here, gazorenzoku was the name of my website. It was a dorky idea coming from the fact that "gazorenzoku" means "image sequence" in Japanese. Since then I have obtained the domain "vince-coleman.com" and don't really use my old nomiker much. But here I will forever be "gazorenzoku"...

Maybe we should all write "ZWOL" somewhere on our nametags?

Kris ... I actualy was going to send you an e-mail about this. I forgot to include it in the PM earlier. Indeed, although you are from Ohio, you are welcome as a "guest member". This month we had a gentleman, Mike Carroll, from Columbus who happened to be in the area this Saturday. I do not want to limit "members" since it really is not a club per say and I do not want to limit particapation. Hell, if you are driving distance, come if you wish.

APE? Damn I wish i could go, who knows, maybe I will. Nothing I could commit to yet. I would not mind meeting you in person Vince, and yes I know you by name, not just login.

Lol, it's interesting to see how much Tim Mallos looks like the way he draws himself. I'm seriously considering attending the next meeting under the "guest member" option. I have to check some specifics in my schedule first. Also I am curious how long the meeting lasted last time. Oh and also if there is anything we should bring (like I'm guessing at least a note book and writting implement).

It was a great meeting. I really enjoyed it! I may have a conflict for the next one  , I'm not sure. I'd encourage anyone to seek out some other struggling creatives to hang out with. It's good for the soul.

Thanks for putting the page together Dave.
I should have a little more time in the near future to contribute.

Yeah ... when Tim and I first meet over a year ago, he said that he looks a lot like his comic illustration of himself. We meet at Starbucks in Ann Arbor (a very alternative/hippy/liberal type of town) and I was suppost to be looking for somebody that looked like a cartoon ... HELL they all looked like cartoons.
:P

But yes, Tim does look like his illustration.

Well I hope that both of you can make it. What to bring? Most people brought sketchbooks and or samples of their work to show off. Other than that, bring a warm jacket.
