Time stamp lag.

Post by Rip Tanion »

I noticed that posts written today are time stamped one hour early. I was surprised to see I posted something at 4:14, especially since I wasn't home at that time. I checked my Time Zone settings, and they are are correct (GMT-5 aka Eastern). Is this a failure to account for Daylight Savings?

Could be. The server may not have jumped time zones with the rest of us. I'll do some checking...

Testing....

Hmmm... Seems to still not be right. I'll have to check further. The forum itself doesn't know anything about Daylight Saving Time, so I'm wondering if the problem is with the server not knowing what time it is.

It appears as though there's no support for Daylight Saving Time in this version of the forum software. It's based on GMT and never shifts to summer time. There is said to be DST functionality in the next version, though.

I'm a little surprised that nobody noticed this before (myself included!) but it's not such a big issue. If you really care, you can adjust your own member profile to the next time zone to simulate your own local time.

Thanks for looking into it, Greg. I thought maybe the server was located in Arizona.

Oh, Canada. "Dah, go Leafs, go!"

It just that for some reason Arizona doesn't observe DST.
