52 Weeks, a crazy experiment!!

Post by troybuddha »

Hi All,

Since this forum is called Hype here it comes;

Come see if a procrastinating cartoonist can actually produce a comic a week for a year! It's weird, it's wacky, it's just plain nuts! Come see it and either root for him to succeed or pray for him to fail so you can feel better about yourself! Don't walk, <a href="http://www.karmicdebt.net">run there</a> today!

Have a great day everyone!

At a glance it looks like your comics might be good/funny, but they're too small to be easily read. I suspect there are many other potential readers out there like me who would rather just hit back the back button and go look for another web comic than squint to read your 52weeks one. Maybe I'm halfblind or lazy, or my resolution is too high, but if i'm this way I'm sure alot of others are as well. Try making your image sizes a bit bigger and see if you get more feedback tht way.
All the above is meant in the most friendly encouraging way possible.

Try checking out the main page now I've experimented with that comic I'm trying to balance a fine line between resolution and speed of download... let me know what you think.

So far your 52 weeks is very enjoyable. I particualerly like: 5-12-3, 6-24-3 and 8-19-3. I like/identify with 8-4-3, 8-7-3, 9-17-3, and 10-20-3 (but I've been pretty good about not wasting my time like that lately, but back in the day Civilization 2 used to keep me up all night and waste all the time in my day).

Still Hard to read: 6-7-3, 6-26-3, the desert one, 8-24-3, 9-3-3. Some of these are literally too hard to read. You might want to consider just redoing the speach bubbles and/or type if you'd like to steer clear of increasing the image size too much, though i think most of those could use a slight incease of image size.

Keep up the good work, I look forward to reading the rest.

I'm sure the additude shown in your comic is common enough, but I just had a great experience that was quite the opposite this weekend. I passed an art portfolio review in order to get into art school mostly just based on my comics and knowledge of the medium. In fact about halfway through the interviewer passed me and we just talked about comics or another 10 min or so.

New comic...

Post by troybuddha »

Well there you have it <i>another</i> new comic, this one was slightly delayed because we bought a new PC which of course meant taken all the files off the old one. Before you ask <i>"What about a PC relocation program?"</i> we tried that and it just did not work but it did provide the inspiration for this weeks comic.

*grins at the Scott McCloud being at the top of the mountian*

Heh, had thought it would have been interestiing if when you got to the top of the mountian, you realized it was only the first of many you now see ahead of you.

As for what to do next...

You could continue, perhaps do a larger project, or lay low and fill up sketchbooks for a while.

Though I suppose ya have already thought of that. ;-)

Was that inspired by P.D.'s ever falling monkey?

The (falling) man evolved from a (falling) monkey? Preposterous! More likely that they share a common ancestor.

Oh and Troy how about trying a 24hr comic? The pain's worth it, I promise.
