Software I helped build...

Post by Tim Mallos »

Howdy. Not comics, really, but visual at least.

4 talented friends and I formed a little software company. I spent my summer (evenings and weekends and sleep time) working on an American Sign Languge CD product.
I did the video shoots and much of the application coding. Mildly proud of the result.

Just thought I'd share / trumpet a little. This is one of the reasons I have not produced much in the way of comics in quite a while. Screen shots available in the Amazon listing...

Great stuff. :D The reviewer on the Amazon site might have a point: a fully hard-disk loadable version would be more convenient for a laptop user. I don't know much about the technical or anti-piracy issues you'd have with that, though.

Yeah. I'm not going to say that that is ideal. We took efforts to divide content in a logical fashion. When you actually use the software, the disk swapping is not that bad.

As an alternative, a 3GB full install seems kinda whacky too....

Honestly, though, it was one of the concessions to a tight timeline.

I thought 1 star might have been harsh, but the reviewer was specific about their issue, so that's cool. If others will be unhappy about that I'm glad they will know going in.

Unfortuneatly, the penetration of DVD drives is not yet such that we can go that route.

We will want to offer the choice for "full install" down the road, perhaps on this product, but definately on others.

We have it out for review and the content, video, and games are recieving high marks, so I'm not gonna let that one review get me too down, but it is great feedback for improvement.

And thank you too for your comments!

He gave it a one-star because he couldn't load it on his laptop? What a ego-centric moron! Yes, kid, the world really does revolve around you.
